Job Description
AECOM is hiring a Safety, Health & Environmental Officer II for an onsite, third-shift position for a project based in Brooklyn, NY.
Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Implementing AECOM’s Construction Manager’s (CM) EHS Management Plan (EHSMP) and Environmental Health and Safety Plan (EHASP).
Assisting the CM with the preparation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) according to Client standards.
Completing daily reports as required by the Client.
Reviewing all EHS-related submissions from Contractors, including EHASPs, JHAs, monthly reports, asbestos/lead/mercury/PCB management and sampling plans, waste management plans, soil re-use, hazardous waste contingency plans, erosion and sediment control plans, and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), ensuring comprehensive oversight of all site activities.
Conducting regular visits to the construction site.
Monitoring the Contractor’s compliance with EHASPs and JHAs.
Tracking and reviewing all site EHSR performance, including daily reports and ensuring EHS issues are being addressed.
Performing daily reporting of Contractors’ work areas and documenting non-compliance with EHASPs and JHAs.
Reviewing Contractor incident reports for adequacy, participating in meetings related to construction incidents, and verifying the implementation of necessary corrective actions.
Submitting monthly EHS status reports and metrics, including a monthly trending analysis of Contractor EHS performance.
Overseeing Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and drills on-site in coordination with Client staff.
Reviewing and managing all EHS Annual Reports (e.g., EPCRA, Hazardous Waste, Confined Space).
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS in Safety, Engineering, or a related field, with 6 years of relevant experience, or a combination of experience and education.
Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) and/or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification, or the ability to obtain within one year.
OSHA 10-hour Construction Health and Safety Course.
At least 3 years of experience in construction safety.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
OSHA 30-hour Construction Health and Safety Course.
10 years of relevant EHS field and management experience in construction.
Initial and Annual Refresher OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120/1926.65 HAZWOPER.
NYSDEC 4-hour Erosion and Sediment Control Training.
Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and 1910 Regulations.
Familiarity with eBuilder software.
