Nucor Steel Lexington in Lexington, NC is seeking a Safety professional to support division safety performance and compliance with OSHA and other regulations. You will help coordinate safety training, incident analysis, and contractor safety programs while aligning with Nucor’s safety-first culture.

A key focus is maintaining safety data, performing field observations, and participating in regional safety initiatives to keep workplaces safe and compliant.

• Support division safety performance, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA.
• Support division with all aspects of field/shop safety teams and programs.
• Collaborate across departments on safety projects, initiatives, and analysis.
• Maintain and report safety data – KPI statistics, training, compliance records, confidential records, safety management system, etc.
• Be available to address/participate in on-call and/or after-hours onsite safety needs.
• Assist in and/or overseeing incident analysis and root cause analysis program.
• Coordinate contractor safety program, requirements, and monitor performance.
• Coordinate, schedule, track, update, and/or deliver division safety training and culture-building activities.

Basic Job Functions

• Must adhere to Nucor’s safety programs and standards.
• Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor’s vision and values.
• Support division safety performance, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local safety, occupational health and environmental regulations, including OSHA.
• Support division with all aspects of field/shop safety teams & programs.
• Collaborate across departments on safety projects, inititivies, and analysis.
• Maintain and report safety data – KPI statistics, training, compliance records, confidential records, safety management system, etc.
• Being available to address/participate in on-call and/or after-hours onsite safety needs.
• Assisting in and/or overseeing incident analysis & root cause analysis program.
• Assisting in coordination of contractor safety program, requirements, and monitor performance.
• Coordinating, scheduling, tracking, updating, and/or delivering division safety training & culture-building activities to include onboarding & annual training.
• Analyzing compliance, inspections, and auditing safety efforts.
• Developing, maintaining, evaluating job safety analysis/procedures.
• Performing routine/frequent field observations
• Coordinating of onsite Emergency Response program & routine audits.
• Communicating safety information (flyers, alerts, presentations, etc.)
• Assisting with planning and coordinating division activities and events.
• Maintaining department webpage, dashboards, online safety platforms
• Participating & leading division in regional & product group safety initiatives
• Other duties as assigned by Health & Safety Director

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
• Must be able to work overtime when requried
• Ability to gain & maintain Emergency Medical Responder Certification
• Ability to gain & maintain Mental Health First Aid Certification
