Job summary

Safety-Kleen Refinery in East Chicago, IN is seeking a Shipping, Receiving, and Blending Technician. You will receive, sample, and unload inbound bulk shipments of used oil by railcar or truck, often working in confined spaces. The role requires flexibility for 8–12 hour shifts, day/night rotations, and weekend work.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years experience in manual labor (industrial, refinery or construction) preferred.
• Railcars, tanker, blending and filling experience preferred.
• Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Confined space or hazmat experience an asset.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by following all safe practices and procedures.
• Sample inbound rail cars, trucks, and trailers of used oil.
• Prepare samples, submit for lab analysis, and enter data in UNIX system for tracking.
• Unload rail cars, trucks and trailers into used oil receiving tanks.
• Operate branch trucks and track mobile for unloading.
• Perform daily environmental/permitting related inspections.
• Act as a switchman for rail switches and prepare equipment for repairs.
• Fill out permits and organize unloading areas.
• Other duties as required.
