Apache Stainless in Beaver Dam, WI seeks a Safety & Environmental Director to lead and enforce our corporate safety program. The role reports to the President with responsibility across divisions for safety policy implementation, audits, training, and incident investigations.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree with extensive safety experience and professional certifications (PE or CSP/CIH/CHP/CRSP). You will drive environmental compliance and safety initiatives company-wide.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with strong safety background.
  • P.E. registration or industry certifications preferred.
  • At least 5 years of additional safety experience if no PE/CSP/CIH/CHP/CRSP.
  • Experience implementing corporate safety programs and OSHA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead plant safety program implementation across divisions.
  • Enforce all safety policies and procedures corporate-wide.
  • Authorize equipment purchases for safety compliance.
  • Investigate accidents and near-misses; report to President.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims and follow-up on closures.
  • Develop safety audits, training, and incentive programs.
  • Maintain safety records, committee activities, and budgets.
  • Coordinate environmental compliance and reporting.
  • Ensure safety orientation for new employees and ongoing training.
  • Collaborate with operations and supervision for safety improvements.

Enforce all safety policies and procedures. This position will operate as a corporate employee with direct supervision from the President.**Duties and Responsibilities:**Plant Safety Responsibilities:1. Making sure that all OSHA requirements and statutory laws regarding industrial safety are complied with on the shop floor, in the office, and in our safety programs.2. Authorize purchase of manufacturing equipment and machinery for compliance with safety regulations.3. Involvement in plant expansions and/or acquisitions from a safety perspective.4. Implement a safety audit & observation program for the purpose of discovering and correcting unsafe conditions or unsafe work practices before they cause accidents.5. Investigate all accidents and near misses. Document & report all serious accidents & fatalities to the president.6. Effective management of worker compensations claims to include the filing of all appropriate forms, tracking of claims, and an enthusiastic effort to follow up and make sure all claims are closed on a timely basis.7. Analyzing accident data to determine accident trends and patterns and to set priorities for developing programs aimed at reducing these causes.8. Maintaining a record system for all incidents, concerns, and suggestions.9. Maintain and direct a safety committee representing shop to assist in reducing work place hazards and increasing employee awareness of safety.10. Implementation of an effective safety incentive program to ensure participation and enthusiasm in safety.11. Safety orientation of all new employees in regard to the safety policies and programs of Apache Stainless.12. Ensure training of all employees in regard to safety programs and other safety related subjects according to OSHA regulations and Apache recommendations.13. Maintaining a balanced budget of all safety equipment and supplies. Perform the purchasing of all health and safety related supplies and equipment. 14. Organize and communicate with management monthly and annually on accidents and overall safety.15. Continuing education in the safety field by attending seminars and joining committees and organizations as approved by management.16. Maintaining outside professional contacts to exchange and update information concerning safety.17. Acting in an advisory capacity on all matters related to safety as required for guidance of management.Product Safety/Liability Responsibilities:1. Manage Product Safety Policy and coordinate efforts with all aspects of safe design and manufacturing of our product, which may include estimating, engineering, manufacturing, and sales.2. Conduct a safety and environmental analysis by way of committee on all newly designed equipment.3. Ensure all laws and regulations applicable to design and manufacture of our products are followed.4. Maintain safety equipment sheets and safety inspection sheets specific to all manufactured equipment.5. Label all manufactured equipment in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. 6. Safety inspect all manufactured equipment & approve for shipment.7. Primary involvement of all equipment safety issues as raised by either employees or customers.8. Manage all liability claims from either product or manufactured equipment.Environmental Responsibilities:1. Ensure all environmental regulations are complied with both on the national and state level.2. Complete all reporting and recordkeeping requirements for environmental compliance.3. Manage all environmental issues regarding our acid operations (electro-polish and pickling). 4. Research ways to improve air quality, wastewater discharge, and storm water discharge.5. Monitor and audit our environmental processes. Implement changes to these processes for better efficiencies.6. Continually research methods of waste minimization.7. Manage continual improvements making Apache an “environmentally friendly” company. 8. Continual education to ensure compliance with the ever-changing environmental regulations.Miscellaneous:1. Other duties as assigned.**Qualifications:** Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 10 years of safety experience. Or P.E. registration, IOSH-RSP, CSP, CIH, CHP or CRSP certification and five years of safety experience.Work with operation manager and supervisor of each division in implementation of our Corporate Safety Program.
