Job summary

Bath Iron Works in Bath, ME is seeking a Safety Engineer to join the Safety & Health department. You will assist in administering occupational health and safety programs in a dynamic shipyard setting, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and company procedures.

Responsibilities include identifying hazards, developing abatement plans, maintaining safety programs, delivering training, and supporting continuous improvement through investigations and corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, safety, and health science or related field or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience in workplace health and safety programs/oversight.
• Experience with OSHA standards or industry guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Identify workplace hazards and develop abatement plans.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining safety programs and management systems.
• Provide training to promote a total safety culture.
• Assist management with hazard recognition and abatement; ensure OSHA compliance.
• Conduct root cause investigations and develop corrective actions.
