What We Are Looking For

The Safety Education Coordinator supports the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team at SAC Health, primarily focusing on the Brier Clinic. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating safety education, training, and competency development for SAC Health staff, ensuring compliance with policies, regulatory standards, and emergency preparedness protocols. Additionally, the Safety Education Coordinator contributes to the Safety Program in partnership with the Environmental Health and Safety Specialist, ensuring team members receive consistent training, communication, tools, and resources needed to perform their roles effectively. The Safety Education Coordinator also partners with the Safety Operations Technician to review deficiencies identified during routine safety inspections, determining educational needs and areas for staff improvement.

Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm | Location: Brier Clinic, San Bernardino, CA

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES

  • Lead and facilitate ongoing safety and security-related training sessions at the Brier Clinic and across SAC Health.
  • Prepare and deliver course materials, assessments, and competency-based education on various safety topics.
  • Develop and present training classes using PowerPoint, e-learning modules, hands-on simulations, and emergency drills.
  • Conduct real-time training assessments, providing feedback and coaching on emergency response skills.
  • Schedule, organize, and track required safety training sessions and competency validations in collaboration with HR to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate and lead at least one large-scale safety training event annually at the Brier Clinic.
  • Update and revise training curriculum in consultation with EHS leadership, ensuring alignment with current standards and policies.
  • Communicate learning objectives and outcomes clearly to participants.
  • Provide timely feedback on assessments and staff progress.
  • Address staff learning needs and questions promptly.
  • Ensure training programs incorporate adult learning best practices.
  • Serve as a second point of contact for Safety Coordinators across clinics, ensuring they receive adequate training and resources.
  • Contribute to the Safety Coordinator Program, including quarterly drills and at least two additional training sessions annually.
  • Maintain communication with Safety Coordinators to ensure they are well-educated on safety protocols.
  • Assist EHS Leadership with implementing and monitoring safety policies.
  • Ensure training materials align with policies and standards.
  • Support workplace violence prevention initiatives.
  • Provide policy feedback based on training outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate training records, logs, and incident reports.
  • Work with HR to integrate training records into the employee database system.
  • Assist in scheduling Safety Coordinator Meetings, drills, trainings, and safety events.
  • Report metrics on training activities and effectiveness to committees.
  • Coordinate training logistics with the EHS Admin Assistant.
  • Act as a point of contact for employees regarding safety concerns, policies, and procedures.
  • Support safety and security training for SAC Health Leadership.
  • Travel between clinic locations as needed; must have reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in related fields preferred.
  • Valid California driver’s license and auto insurance required. Certification as a healthcare or safety instructor preferred, including certifications in healthcare & emergency medical training, occupational safety, workplace violence prevention, fire safety, or homeland security.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in safety education and training in healthcare; three or more years preferred.
  • Experience in safety program development, with strong public speaking, instructional design, and facilitation skills. Proficiency in MS Office and virtual learning platforms. Deep understanding of healthcare safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Ability to analyze training effectiveness and implement improvements.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to engage and motivate staff, deliver presentations, and foster collaboration. Professionalism in challenging situations and managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Commitment to ongoing professional development in safety and emergency preparedness.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
