POSITION TITLE: Safety/Driver Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
POSITION SUMMARY: Completes daily assignment of duties for drivers, monitors, and aides to meet district needs.
Essential Functions
- Facilitate the successful training of new school bus drivers and aides/monitors in accordance with Missouri state law & DESE.
- Assist with the consistent recruitment of new drivers, monitor candidates and facilitate the hiring process.
- Maintain required documentation for audit in compliance with state certification and district/state/federal requirements to include driving records, Department of Transportation physical exams, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and first-aid training.
- Develop, compile, and maintain records including, but not limited to, bus driver records, license and certificate expirations, and training hours.
- Plan, implement, and present at monthly in-service for transportation staff, bus drivers, and aides/monitors.
- Coordinate and provide re-training of school bus driving skills and student management training for current transportation staff, as necessary.
- Investigate customer service complaints related to safety issues and take appropriate corrective action.
- Maintain confidentiality of any information which may include but not be limited to students' behavior, health, special needs, program changes, and staff members according to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Utilize computerized routing programs to efficiently design and implement routes and schedules.
- Deliver outstanding and speedy customer service to parents, students, and district personnel.
- Coordinate dispatch duties and assist with radio communications as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.
Minimum Requirements
- Maintain a CDL in good standing or obtain the CDL in a timely manner.
- Coordinates and dispatches district school buses in a timely manner when necessary.
- Drives routes or monitor students when necessary.
- Expect moderate schedule changes due to business needs.
Physical/Visual Activities or Demands:
- Standing, walking, sitting, stooping or crouching, reaching, grasping, talking.
- Normal attention: with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less as well as 20 feet or more, depth perception, and a field of vision that can be seen up and down or right to left while fixed on point, all required.
- Light physical demand with lifting of very light to light (1 to 45 lbs.) items by hand.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Basic knowledge of arithmetic, spelling, English, and grammar. Accuracy in checking, posting, proofreading and counting.
Experience: Prefer a minimum of one year of management or dispatching experience in student transportation. Experienced in, and knowledgeable of, industry state and federal regulations, ELDT processes. Routing software experience is preferred but not required.

- Apply common sense understanding to carry out one or two-step instructions. Deal with standardized situations.
- Add and subtract two digits. Perform the four basic arithmetic operations.
- Reading, writing, and speaking at basic arithmetic operations.
- Knowledge of how to read maps of district streets.
- Ability to work in high-pressure situations with the ability to prioritize tasks and make quick decisions when necessary.
- Must demonstrate positive, effective people skills.
