Job summary

gpac is seeking an experienced Safety Director for a local Atlanta commercial general contractor. You will own the safety program, lead project teams, and raise the standard for safety on active Atlanta sites.

This role requires strong OSHA knowledge, field leadership, and the ability to partner with executive and operational teams to plan and execute safety strategies across projects, while traveling as needed. This is a highly visible leadership position with substantial impact.

Qualifications

• Significant construction safety experience, preferably in a commercial GC setting.
• Leadership experience at Director/ Senior Safety Manager level.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
• OSHA 510 certification is required.
• Proven track record developing, implementing, and enforcing safety programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with craft professionals to executive leadership.
• Experience with incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and risk mitigation.
• Ability to hold teams accountable while maintaining strong working relationships.

Responsibilities

Safety Director - Commercial Construction

A leading Atlanta commercial general contractor is looking for an experienced Safety Director to take ownership of its safety program, provide leadership across active projects, and continue raising the standard for how safety is approached throughout the organization.

This is not simply a compliance role. The Safety Director will have a visible voice within the company, work closely with executive and operational leadership, and play an important part in how projects are planned and executed from a safety standpoint.

The Role

You’ll lead the company's overall safety program while partnering directly with project teams and field leadership throughout the Atlanta market.

Responsibilities Will Include

• Lead and continually improve the company-wide safety program
• Provide safety leadership and direction to Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams

The Ideal Candidate Will Bring

• Significant construction safety experience, preferably within a commercial general contractor
• Previous safety leadership experience at the Director, Corporate Safety Manager or Senior Safety Manager level
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards
• OSHA 510 - REQUIRED
• Proven experience developing, implementing, and enforcing safety programs
• Strong field presence and the ability to communicate effectively with everyone from craft professionals to executive leadership
• Experience with incident investigation, documentation, training, risk mitigation, and jobsite audits
• The ability to hold teams accountable while still building strong working relationships
