Job summary

Smartlink LLC seeks a Safety Director to champion our safety culture and elevate the quality of safety programs across the organization. The role requires up-to-date knowledge of OSHA regulations and proven program implementation abilities.

You will lead site safety plans, audits, training, and incident investigations, coordinating with field teams, insurers, and legal counsel to resolve issues and reduce risk.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, safety management or related discipline preferred.
  • OSHA 30 hour certified and first aid/CPR certified.
  • Extremely knowledgeable with governmental ES& H standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices and experience with conducting accident investigations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office- Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record required.
  • Ability to make proactive decisions while addressing the needs of all involved.
  • Multi-state travel may be required to support all regions.

Responsibilities

  • Create custom training programs for bi-annual safety training.
  • Participate in local and national safety councils to promote safety culture.
  • Develop and implement safety measures to maintain safe environments.
  • Oversee documentation regarding safety issues.
  • Coach and train employees on safety.
  • Liaison with government inspectors and agencies.

Job Summary:

The Safety Directorchampions Smartlink’s safety culture and improves our safety programs quality, effectiveness, and support throughout the organization. They remain current on local, state, and federal regulations as they pertain to safety and implement all best safety practices within the Company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Understand, administer, and enforce OSHA regulations and other federal, state, and local standards, and Company safety policies and procedures to establish and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Support project teams in developing site-specific safety programs and safety orientations.
  • Conduct regular job site safety audits and ensure safety goals are achieved. Identify safety issues and assist others in immediate corrective action necessary to mitigate identified hazards.
  • Continually evaluate safety performance develop and implement training based on this evaluation.
  • Establish project safety kick-off meetings to review safety standards and procedures with teams.
  • Primary point of contact with OSHA and responsible for addressing safety concerns during inspections. Provide support to field staff when not present.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating Smartlink’s safety manual and disaster plan.
  • Coordinate procurement, inventory, and distribution of safety equipment and materials.
  • Triage incident reports on workplace injuries, investigate causes, and work with insurance carriers and corporate counsel to resolve claims.
  • Create custom training programs and materials for bi-annual safety training focused on project-specific hazards.
  • Participate in local and national safety councils/organizations to promote Smartlink’s safety culture.
  • Develop and implement safety measures to maintain safe work environments.
  • Oversee documentation regarding workplace safety issues and concerns.
  • Coach, mentor, and train employees on safety as it pertains to their job.
  • Liaison with external parties such as government-employed inspectors.
  • Liaison for the Company in meetings with government bodies and other agencies on matters pertaining to workplace health and safety.
  • Ensure that all personal certifications are kept current and in good standing.
  • Ensures strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements throughout the Company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and talking on the phone, attending virtual online meetings and working on a computer.
  • Lift and move 40–50 lbs occasionally (barricades, spill kits, test gear); climb ladders/stairs and access elevated work areas as needed.
  • Work in high-airflow, noisy, or temperature-variable areas (data halls, mechanical yards, generator rooms).
  • Comfortable working in PPE including hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, high-visibility gear, and hearing protection.
  • Operate within high-security, mission-critical environments and follow strict access and change-control procedures.
  • Provide off-hours support for incidents or maintenance windows; significant travel (>70%) may be required based on project/location needs.
