Safety Coordinator - Southern Region (Salem, Woodburn, Newberg & Sheridan)

Job Function

In this role, you'll design, develop, implement and oversee the organization’s safety programs to safeguard employees and the public and to ensure compliance with laws, standards and regulations.

Safety Specialist 6147 Grade 6

Career Level: Senior Safety Specialist P3 / Safety Specialist P2

Reporting and Analysis:

  1. Conducts routine and complex investigations including incident reviews and root cause analysis.
  2. Develops and runs reports.
  3. Analyzes trends and prepares and presents presentations and communications.
  4. Coordinates and leads follow up on action items related to reports and investigations.
  5. Leads process improvement projects, conducts benchmarking efforts and assists in identifying improvement efforts.

Program Management:

Develops and administers safety programs, guidelines and initiatives to meet business objectives and comply with all relevant state and/or federal laws and regulations. Integrates industry best practices into existing programs.

Consultation/ Education:

  1. Serves as a subject matter expert to managers and employees.
  2. Analyzes business needs and develops and implements innovative solutions to safety-related business problems.
  3. In collaboration with other departments, designs and delivers educational programs to managers, employees and/or community organizations on employee and public safety.

Special Projects:

  1. Under general guidance, leads special projects to meet corporate objectives engaging closely with other departments.
  2. Facilitates safety meetings and other safety processes.
  3. Depending on position may assume leadership roles in emergency and incident response.

Compliance:

  1. May respond to requests for information from regulators.
  2. Prepares legally required filings and reports.
  3. Ensures programs, policies, and procedures comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  4. Analyzes changes in regulations and recommends and implements appropriate action.

Education/Experience/Certifications

Education: Requires a bachelor’s degree in science, business, human resources or other related field or equivalent experience.

Experience: Typically, five or more years in professional safety and/or in electric generation, transmission and distribution operations; or, depending on position, drug and alcohol or ergonomic program management.

Certifications, Licenses and Training: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Construction Safety & Health Technician (CHST), Occupational Health & Safety Technologist (OHST), Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS) preferred depending on position. Journeyman card or equivalent trade or operator qualification preferred.

Please note that we can consider candidates with less experience (2 -5 years at the professional level 2), duties would be less complex and performed with more supervision. Knowledge, skills and abilities would be at the working/intermediate level. We are happy to provide a detailed job description on request.

Compensation Range:

$72,900.00 - $121,500.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
