Position Title

Safety Coordinator

Salary

The hourly rate is $24.00 to $28.85/hour, commensurate with related knowledge, skills, and experience. An annual bonus target representing 3% of your annual base salary/wages is paid based on meeting both organizational and individual targets.

Purpose of Position

Under the direction of the Director of Safety and in full compliance with the associate handbook and company policy, work with and through the Harvest Solar management team to ensure compliance with both internal and external safety and environmental requirements. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for site specific safety and environmental compliance with Harvest and customer requirements. The Safety Coordinator will work closely with onsite installation crews, site leadership, customer safety representatives, and Harvest Solar Safety to ensure all work is completed to established requirements.

Major Responsibilities of Position
  • Ensure a “Safe Culture” through employee engagement, training, coaching, and compliance
  • Perform safety audits/inspections on construction sites
  • Participate in post‑accident investigation and prepare report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management
  • Advise onsite management on safety and environmental compliance concerns and preventative actions
  • Participate in the Safety Department’s planning, developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving industrial safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including OSHA and DOT
  • Assist with documenting safety records including incident reporting, OSHA reporting, etc. per departmental retention policy
  • Prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated; follow up to ensure measures have been implemented
  • Work within Safety department to identify solutions to safety‑related issues on project sites
  • Participate if applicable in company meetings with government bodies (AHJ) and other organizations (OSHA, MiOSHA) on issues regarding workplace health and safety
  • Other duties as assigned
Rights

This position is responsible for stopping work on any equipment or process that you are concerned is unsafe and report your concern immediately to Onsite Management with your recommendations for return to work.

Educational and Certification Background
  • High school diploma or GED, required.
  • Solar installation experience; ground and roof, required.
  • Valid State Driver’s License, required. Ability to obtain CDL certification, preferred.
  • OSHA 30, required. Training assistance available.
  • MIOSHA Level I within 1 year and Level II within 3 years, required.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks especially when handling an accident or incident.
  • Ability to manage daily priorities and ensure task accomplishment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines (MIOSHA Level I Contractors certification will be required to be completed in 1 year and Level II within 3 years).
  • Strong hazard recognition.
  • Ability to write a JHA or perform a risk assessment.
  • Good organizational, leadership and motivational skills.
  • Maintain regular and acceptable attendance.
  • Willing to work hours necessary to support the accomplishment of organizational goals.
Benefit Offerings

Harvest Solar employees are eligible for the following benefits programs:

Immediately after Hire
  • Nine paid holidays per year: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve.
  • Paid vacation: Vacation time is accrued each week at a rate of .924 to achieve 48 hours in the calendar year. Unused vacation can be paid out and/or up to 40 unused hours can be rolled over at year end.
  • Paid Time Off: 72 hours are available each year on January 1. PTO is available to assist you in managing your time off work for personal appointments. PTO does not rollover, nor is it paid out at the end of the year; unused PTO is forfeited. In the first year of employment available hours are prorated based on your date of hire.
The First of the Month After the Date of Hire
  • Health Insurance: the premiums are a shared expense with 80% covered by Harvest Solar and 20% covered by the associate via a weekly payroll deduction. Premiums are based on level of coverage (Associate only, Associate & Spouse, Associate & Child(ren), Family).
  • Dental Insurance: same shared expense model.
  • Vision Insurance: same shared expense model.
  • Group Life Insurance: $50,000.00 of group life insurance, with an Accident Death clause. Premiums are covered by Harvest Solar.
  • Group Short Term Disability: 60% of your earnings, with a $1,000.00 weekly maximum, are available for injury or illness after a seven-day waiting period. Premiums are covered by Harvest Solar.
  • Voluntary Supplemental Programs: Accident, Critical illness, and Hospital Indemnity are available at the associate’s expense. Plans are organized through Allstate and premiums are paid through payroll deduction.
The First of the Month After 90‑Days of Employment
  • 401(k) Plan: Associates are auto‑enrolled at a 3% deferral rate. The plan is administered by Vestwell. Auto‑enrolled contribution is invested in a “Retire‑On‑Time” plan. Once enrolled, the associate may make changes including:
    • Increasing the deferral rate to the IRS limits: match available — 3% deferred matched 3%; 4% deferred matched 3.5%; 5% deferred matched 4%.
    • Changing the account type: pre‑tax and Roth accounts available.
    • Changing the investment type: standard plans or custom investment.
