The Safety Coordinator II reports directly to the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager. This position requires frequent travel to field locations to implement consistent and uniform HSE practices tailored to each work site's specific operational risks and hazards. The Safety Coordinator II conducts various HSE activities, including, but not limited to, daily job-site visits, audits and inspections, loss incident investigations, emergency response, performing environmental assessments and evaluations of facilities and job locations, and assisting operations with implementation and compliance of existing HSE programs. The ability to work independently, maintain strong attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced environment are critical for success in this role.
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety and environmental policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance correcting unsafe actions or conditions
- Conduct and support the development of orientations, related safety training, safety meetings, and tailgate meetings
- Conduct safety observations/audits and provide appropriate corrective actions independently, ensuring that all potential hazards are promptly and effectively corrected
- Understand and apply appropriate industry-specific standards
- Perform basic incident investigations independently and assist with determining root cause and corrective actions.
- Assist the management of claims with directions from the Risk Department.
- Establish a working relationship with the project team (i.e., Project Manager, Foreman, General Foreman, Superintendent).
- Develop site-specific safety plans and hazard analysis.
- Promote HSE Program and Core Values.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience
- Two plus years of EHS experience applicable to industry or a safety role
- OSHA 30-hour certification, or the ability to obtain within an approved timeframe
- Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven, and an acceptable driving record
- The ability to travel, with minimal lead time, with overnight stays, up to 50% of the time
- Secondary education degree
- Knowledge, skills and ability to execute local, state, and federal HSE regulatory requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work well and efficiently with a wide variety of people while holding them accountable to HSE requirements.
- Demonstrated success developing and monitoring HSE standards, procedures, or processes
- Strengths in problem solving, planning, and coordinating initiatives
- The ability to work independently and being personally accountable and responsible is essential
- Microsoft Outlook email, Word, and Excel computer skills
- Fluent in English is a must, Spanish is a plus

Physical Requirements
- Sit, stand, and walk continuously throughout the scheduled workday
- Stand, reach, drive and use fine motor skills frequently throughout the day
- Occasionally bend, kneel, squat, and climb throughout the workday
- Lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion
- Work both indoors and outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions and may be in loud environments
- Must work in a manner that will not jeopardize the health and safety of him/herself or others
