Job summary

UFP Industries is seeking a Safety Coordinator to oversee the facility's safety programs and initiatives, ensuring safe job practices, proper guarding, and protection of workers.

You will lead training, chair the Safety Committee, maintain OSHA logs, and coordinate inspections and regulatory tours, while partnering with management, HR, and claims administrators to drive continuous safety improvements. Qualifications

  • Minimum high school graduate
  • 0–2 years of safety or woodworking operations experience
  • Proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Regularly inspects facility operations to ensure safe practices and guards are in place
  • Investigates accidents and near-misses, identifies causes, and ensures corrective actions
  • Develops safety programs and incentives with management
  • Conducts new hire safety training and policy instruction
  • Provides training on safe operation of machinery and equipment
  • Chairs the Safety Committee
  • Maintains adequate safety, first aid and medical supplies inventory
  • Coordinates forklift training and annual inspections
  • Coordinates fire inspection tours and regulatory inspections
  • Monitors hearing conservation program
  • Allocates duties for employees on medical restrictions
  • Communicates with management, HR and third-party claims administrators
  • Maintains OSHA 300 log and reports
  • Prepares regular and special reports
  • Performs other duties as required

Job Summary The Safety Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, facilitation, and supervision of the facility's safety programs and initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Regularly inspects facility operations to ensure that safe job practices are followed, protective equipment is properly utilized, and all required machine/process guards are in place and operational
  • Investigates and facilitates the investigation of all accidents and near-miss occurrences, identifies trends and causes and ensures that corrective measures are implemented
  • Works with management to develop safety programs and incentives as appropriate
  • Conducts new hire training and ensures new employees understand safety practices and policies
  • Provides training to employees on the safe and appropriate operation of machinery and equipment
  • Chairs the Safety Committee
  • Ensures the facility maintains the proper number of personnel trained in first aid and CPR and that the required level of safety and medical supplies are maintained in inventory
  • Conducts and certifies all forklift training
  • Coordinates annual fire inspection tours and planned/unplanned tours by other safety and health regulatory agencies
  • Monitors facility hearing conservation program
  • Coordinates work duties for employees on medical restrictions
  • Maintains appropriate communication with immediate management, Human Resources, and third-party claims administrators
  • Maintains OSHA 300 log and other required reports
  • Prepares regular and special reports as required
  • Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Minimum high school graduate
  • Minimum zero to two years of experience in safety or woodworking operations
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business-related software, including Microsoft applications Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Preferred experience in First Aid and CPR and working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
