Qualifications

• 0–2 years of construction safety or related field experience.
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Safety, OH&S, Construction Management, EHS, or related field preferred.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to identify hazards and communicate concerns professionally.
• Willingness to travel between multiple jobsites across five boroughs.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety inspections and observations of active construction sites.
• Identify unsafe conditions and assist with corrective actions.
• Assist with daily pre-task planning, toolbox talks, pre-job briefings, and safety meetings.
• Help ensure employees and subcontractors follow OSHA requirements and company safety policies.
• Assist with site safety orientations and employee training.
• Monitor PPE, fall protection, excavation, traffic control, housekeeping, and other jobsite safety requirements.
• Assist with incident and near-miss investigations and documentation.
• Maintain safety inspections, reports, training records, and other required documentation.
• Participate in safety audits and inspections.
• Work closely with Superintendents and Foremen to promote a strong safety culture.
• Perform other safety-related duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Ferreira Construction is seeking an Entry-Level Safety Coordinator to join our New York Division and support active construction projects throughout the five boroughs of New York City.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in construction safety. The Safety Coordinator will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, field employees, subcontractors, and senior safety personnel to help ensure projects are performed safely and in compliance with company policies and applicable OSHA requirements.

This is a field-based position. The ideal candidate is dependable, hands-on, willing to learn, and comfortable speaking up when they see an unsafe condition.
