At Villari Foods the Safety Coordinator will be trained to conduct safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, identify corrective actions, and implement follow-up assessments. Plans/ Implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
The Safety Coordinator will also be trained to ensure safety protocols are being met on the production floor, checking safety barriers/lock-out-tag-out, communicating with management team members regarding safety procedures, trainings, preventing accidents, and ensuring all three facilities meet federal OSHA safety requirements. The Safety Coordinator will be required to walk production areas and facilities on a regular basis to create work orders for a safer work environment for our employees.
This position requires someone who is energetic, outgoing, & strong-willed. At Villari Foods we are looking to give someone an opportunity to gain experience within the safety field. The company is willing to train the right candidate. Villari will provide outside training and resources to gain success within this position as required by state and federal laws.
Job duties:
- Ensure company safety procedures are followed.
- Plan and implement OSHA policies and programs.
- Encourage and maintain high employee involvement in health and safety systems including Villari Foods Safety Audit Requirements.
- Conduct incident investigations including “root cause analysis” for corrective actions.
- Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes.
- Identify process bottlenecks and offer timely solutions.
- Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating safety policies, procedures, and manuals.
- Ensures compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and keeps updated knowledge of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
- Contribute to the selection, onboarding, and development of talent, resulting in continuous site-wide alignment with safety.
- Monitor employee injuries and worker’s compensation.
- Work with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety.
- Build employee relationships and advance safety knowledge and hazard mitigation through coaching, mentoring, training, and employee engagement/empowerment.
- Perform Forklift Training, Hazard Training, Hydration Training, Alcohol & Your job Training, PPE Training, and all other safety-related trainings.
- Drive Health and Safety excellence by developing and implementing risk and compliance management systems.
- Effectively communicate the facility safety vision, strategies, and performance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Facilitate health and safety (H&S) ownership and accountability through the line organization by establishing clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
- Review existing policies and procedures.
- Prepare educational seminars and webinars on a regular basis.
- Develop JSA "Job Safety Analysis” for Villari Foods and The Pork Company.
- Oversee workplace repair, installations, and any other work that could harm employee’s safety.
- Adhere to all the rules and regulations.
- Conduct a risk assessment.
- Enforce preventative measures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
To qualify for this job, you must have:
- Associate degree or higher in the related field.
- OSHA 30-Hour certification
We’d also love it if you have:
- 2 years experience as Safety Coordinator or similar, but not required.
- Strong preference for safety experience in a manufacturing setting a plus
- Being bilingual is a plus.
