A leading company in marine services seeks an EHS Coordinator to support their Environmental, Health and Safety Program. Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-5 years safety experience (preferably in a shipyard).
  • Certified in First Aid/CPR; EMT certification preferred.

Job DescriptionJob Description

Support all areas of the International Ship Repair and Marine Services Environmental, Health and Safety Program. Perform workplace inspections and training to maintain compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations and established procedures.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Maintain compliance with federal and local EHS regulations

· Conduct safety and environmental training

· Maintain accurate administrative and training records

· Certify areas of marine vessels safe for workers and hot work/coordinate testing with the marine chemist, competent person certified .

· Follow the guidelines set up in the EHS Responsibilities manual.

· Conduct audits and identify potential EHS problems, conduct new hire safety , administration of drug tests.

· Understand and provide first aid and be able respond to emergencies.

· Involvement in the maintenance of company safety program

· Coach and mentor all levels of the organization in EHS practices

· Be familiar with MS Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum high school education or GED. Minimum two- five years safety experience (experience in a shipyard is ). Knowledge of safety systems and industrial operations. Excellent oral and written communications skills and problem solving ability. Machine, tools and/or equipment skills, computer skills to include Microsoft Office. Attention to detail, must be able to work varied schedules, including overnight, weekends, and holidays. Certified in First Aid/CPR; EMT . Must be able to travel 0-25% of the time.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Employee is frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, couch, or crawl in the performance of essential duties and responsibilities of this job. The employee may be required to climb or balance above a height of 5 feet in the performance of essential duties and responsibilities of this job. Other physical requirements include:

Ability to work in small, tight, confined spaces.
Ability to work above ground at heights of a minimum of 50 feet

Ability to withstand extreme heat in outside climate or confined spaces.
Ability to stand, sit, walk, for long periods of time.

Ability to respond to voice commands and audible alarms.
Must be able to wear a respirator in the performance of their duties.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee is regularly exposed to extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid conditions. The employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The wearing of the appropriate personal protective equipment mitigates risks associated with these conditions.
