Job summary

Prowood, LLC is seeking a Safety Coordinator in Minnesota to oversee and improve the facility's safety programs. The role involves coordinating safety measures, training staff on PPE use, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations.

You will work with management to develop programs, maintain records, and lead the Safety Committee while guiding new hires through safety policies and practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0–2 years of safety or woodworking operations experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Preferred First Aid and CPR experience; knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect facility operations to ensure safe practices and proper use of PPE and guards.
  • Investigate accidents and near-misses; identify causes and ensure corrective actions.
  • Develop safety programs and incentives with management.
  • Conduct new hire safety training and ensure understanding of policies.
  • Provide training on safe operation of machinery.
  • Chair the Safety Committee.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 log and safety records.
  • Coordinate forklift training and safety inspections.
  • Communicate with HR and claims administrators.

Job description

Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, facilitation, and supervision of the facility's safety programs and initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Regularly inspects facility operations to ensure that safe job practices are followed, protective equipment is properly utilized, and all required machine/process guards are in place and operational
  • Investigates and facilitate the investigation of all accidents and near-miss occurrences identify trends and causes and ensures that corrective measures are implemented
  • Works with management to develop safety programs and incentives as appropriate
  • Conducts new hire training and ensures new employees understand safety practices and policies
  • Provides training to employees on the safe and appropriate operation of machinery and equipment
  • Chairs the Safety Committee
  • Ensures the facility maintains the proper number of personnel trained in first aid and CPR and that the required level of safety and medical supplies are maintained in inventory
  • Conducts and certifies all forklift training
  • Coordinates annual fire inspection tours and planned/unplanned tours by other safety and health regulatory agencies
  • Monitors facility hearing conservation program
  • Coordinates work duties for employees on medical restrictions
  • Maintains appropriate communication with immediate management, Human Resources, and third-party claims administrators
  • Maintains OSHA 300 log and other required reports
  • Prepares regular and special reports as required
  • Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Minimum high school graduate
  • Minimum zero to two years of experience in safety or woodworking operations
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business-related software, including Microsoft applications Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Preferred experience in First Aid and CPR and working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
Compensation & Benefit Information

20-30 Hourly dependent on experience*

Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, and trip rate bonuses. A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
