Job summary

Southland Industries in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Safety Coordinator to support the Division Safety Program and ensure compliance with state and federal safety requirements across job sites. You will partner with field teams and leadership to promote a proactive safety culture and coordinate safety activities.

This safety-sensitive role requires pre-employment cannabis screening and consistent commitment to safety, training, and mentoring staff to improve safety performance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years as Safety professional in construction with training experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or related construction safety experience.
  • CHST, ASP or BCSP certification ideal/preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
  • OSHA 30hr training is required.
  • Passionate about safety and proactive safety program implementation.
  • Self-starter with initiative and team-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building with field teams.

As a Safety Coordinator, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the Division Safety Program by helping ensure compliance with all company, state, and federal safety requirements. You’ll partner closely with field teams and leadership to promote a proactive safety culture while coordinating and supporting safety activities across job sites.

This position is designated as a safety-sensitive role under Washington State law. Pre-employment cannabis screening is required, and impairment on the job presents a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2+ years working as a Safety professional in a construction environment, including training experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences is required or have related strong construction safety experience.
  • Have a CHST, ASP or other BCSP certifications would be ideal and preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
  • OSHA 30hr training required.

  • Excellent working knowledge of health and safety management systems along with state and federal construction safety regulations.

  • Excellent customer service, people and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills-experience with Microsoft Office suite and ability to access OSHA information via the internet.

Pay

Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Washington, this ranges from $81,000 - $95,000 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.

Contingent Employment

All employment offers are contingent upon successful drug tests, background checks, and professional reference checks. Roles that include driving as an essential job duty will be required to have a successful Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR). We are not able to offer sponsorship of employment at this time.
