The Berg Group LLC is seeking a Safety Coordinator to work with the Regional Safety Manager and National Safety Director, providing single-site safety supervision to 40-50 field employees.

You will promote a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, training, and routine field visits, while coordinating with contractors and handling incidents and reporting. This role supports growth within the safety function.

Qualifications

  • Up-to-date knowledge of safety equipment and state OSHA requirements.
  • Knowledge of DOT requirements/standards.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to build and maintain a positive client relationship in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise safety for 40-50 field employees at a single site.
  • Work with field team to manage hazardous conditions and eliminate unsafe activities.
  • Provide toolbox talks and safety training; develop curriculum as needed.
  • Hold field personnel accountable to safety practices and reinforce behavior.
  • Prepare weekly reports to the National Safety Director on site visits.
  • Restock first-aid supplies and manage equipment sterility.
  • Investigate accidents and near misses and report findings.
  • Coordinate with general contractor for safety support when needed.

SummaryThe Safety Coordinator will work closely with the Regional Safety Manager and National Safety Director to provide single-site safety supervision to 40-50 field employees. We are seeking a candidate that is passionate about sharing and spreading a safety culture at The Berg Group and looking to grow and advance their career within the safety function.Essential FunctionsPrimary Responsibilities/DutiesWork with the field team in managing hazardous working conditions and eliminating unsafe employee activities.Stay in regular contact with field staff in relation to safety practices, toolbox talks, and reporting procedures.Build rapport with the field so that communications are regular and consistent.Assist in new employee orientation, specifically safety program training as well as curriculum development.Hold field accountable to safety practices; provide spot or safety rewards per Berg’s program to positively reinforce behavior.Weekly reports to National Safety Director with a summary of all job site visits.Restocking first aid kits and other first-aid items; eye solution, skin glue, etc.Documents, investigates, analyzes, and reports all accidents and near misses.Comfortable interacting with General Contractor and reach out for assistance on situations outside of experience level.Performs other duties as required.Experience and QualificationsMinimum QualificationsHandle safety equipment including replacements and certifications.Proficient with Microsoft Suites.Up to date knowledge of safety equipment, requirements, and state OSHAKnowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements/standardsStrong organizational skillsProven talent to retain a positive brand and relationship with a client while in the field.OSHA 30Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Construction Safety, industrial/construction hygiene, or Occupational Safety.Certified first responderBi-lingualAbility to multitaskAbility to work independentlyStrong communicator at all levelsProblem-solving and organizational skillsSedentary WorkSedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 - 15 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying.Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.The Berg Group is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
