Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and unannounced safety audits at active jobsites.
• Inspect field operations for compliance with safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Identify unsafe conditions and work with field personnel to correct deficiencies.
• Conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, and employee training.
• Assist with fall protection, electrical safety, PPE, ladders, scaffolding, and other safety programs.
• Investigate accidents, injuries, property damage, safety violations, and near-miss incidents.
• Prepare incident reports and corrective-action plans.
• Track corrective actions and ensure hazards are resolved.
• Maintain training records, certifications, inspection reports, and safety documentation.
• Work with mechanics, supervisors, project managers, and regional leadership.
• Participate in project safety and preconstruction meetings.
• Assist with OSHA inspections and customer safety requirements.
• Have authority to stop work when an immediate safety hazard exists.
• Travel regularly to jobsites in Florida and Southeast.

We are seeking a motivated Safety Coordinator based in the Tampa, Florida area to support our field operations throughout Florida and the Southeast.

This position is open to candidates with either a college degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Management, Construction Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field, or candidates with a strong construction or field-safety background.

Previous elevator industry experience is not required. We are willing to train the right candidate on elevator-specific safety requirements, equipment, and procedures.

The ideal candidate enjoys being in the field, working with construction and service employees, identifying hazards, providing safety training, and helping build a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and unannounced safety audits at active jobsites.
• Inspect field operations for compliance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Identify unsafe conditions and work practices and work with field personnel to immediately correct deficiencies.
• Conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, and employee safety training.
• Assist with fall protection, lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, PPE, ladder, scaffolding, rigging, confined space, and other construction safety programs.
• Investigate accidents, injuries, property damage, safety violations, and near‑miss incidents.
• Prepare written incident reports and corrective‑action plans.
• Track corrective actions and ensure identified safety issues are resolved.
• Maintain employee training records, certifications, inspection reports, and other required safety documentation.
• Work closely with mechanics, apprentices/helpers, supervisors, project managers, branch managers, and regional leadership.
• Participate in project safety and preconstruction meetings.
• Assist with OSHA inspections and customer or general‑contractor safety requirements.
• Have the authority to stop work when an immediate safety hazard exists.
• Travel regularly to jobsites throughout Florida and occasionally throughout the Southeast.

Qualifications

Candidates should meet one or more of the following:

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, Construction Management, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), or a related field; OR
• Previous experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, or field operations with an interest or background in safety; OR
• Previous experience working in a dedicated construction or occupational safety position.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to spend significant time in the field.
• Ability to communicate and enforce safety requirements professionally with field employees and management.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobsites.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the region.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and related applications.

Safety Certifications

Existing occupational safety certifications are preferred but are not required.

Preferred certifications/training include:

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction
• OSHA 510
• CHST - Construction Health and Safety Technician
• CSP - Certified Safety Professional
• First Aid / CPR / AED
• Fall Protection Competent Person
• Confined Space
• Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
• Rigging and Signaling

The company may provide additional safety and elevator‑specific training to the selected candidate.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who wants to build a career in occupational and construction safety. This could be an experienced construction safety professional or a recent college graduate looking for an opportunity to develop their career in a specialized industry.

This is not strictly an office position. The Safety Coordinator will spend significant time visiting jobsites, working directly with field employees, conducting inspections and training, and helping our teams identify and correct hazards before an accident occurs.
