JOB SUMMARY :

e-VAC Magnetics LLC, a member of VAC Group, is seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Coordinator to join our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) function within our manufacturing facility. This position partners closely with the EHS Manager and operational leadership to promote a safe and compliant workplace through employee training, inspections, incident investigations, regulatory compliance activities, emergency preparedness, environmental program support, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Safety Coordinator serves as a visible resource on the production floor, helping drive employee engagement and adherence to safe work practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety Program Management:
  • Enforce, support, and maintain comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of site EHS programs and initiatives.
  • Support department Leads in complying with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure easy access for all employees.
  • Maintain chemical inventories and support hazardous material management programs.
  • Support environmental compliance activities related to waste handling, chemical storage, and regulatory recordkeeping.
  • Training and Education:
  • Organize and conduct safety training sessions for new and existing employees on topics such as hazard recognition, equipment operation, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), emergency response, and ergonomics.
  • Coordinate regular safety drills and ensure employees are well-prepared for emergencies.
  • Maintain employee training records and compliance documentation.
  • Assist with training related to hazard communication, emergency response, environmental compliance, and PPE requirements.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergency calls, providing initial first aid care at the scene of accidents, medical emergencies, or disasters on site.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and safety concerns to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and tracking of corrective and preventive actions to completion.
  • Maintain detailed records of incidents and follow up on corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Safety Inspections and Audits:
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of equipment, machinery, and work areas to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment is regularly serviced and maintained for optimal safety performance.
  • Assist with internal EHS audits and preparation for regulatory inspections.
  • Track and verify completion of corrective actions resulting from inspections and audits.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
  • Ensure all employees adhere to company safety policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate with management about safety program effectiveness and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, safety metrics, inspection records, training records, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist with preparation of EHS reports, trend analysis, and KPI tracking.
  • Coordinate documentation required for internal and external audits.
  • Risk Assessment and Hazard Control:
  • Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend effective controls to minimize risks.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce workplace injuries, illness, and property damage.
  • Participate in job hazard analyses and risk assessments.
  • Support implementation of engineering, administrative, and PPE controls to mitigate risks.
  • Employee Engagement:
  • Foster a culture of safety by promoting safety awareness, encouraging employee participation in safety initiatives, and recognizing safety achievements.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees to voice safety concerns and provide guidance on resolving issues.
  • Coordinate activities of the site Safety Committee including meeting documentation and action item follow-up.
  • Support plant-wide initiatives that strengthen safety culture and continuous improvement efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred but not required.

Experience :

  • 3+ years pf experience in a safety role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience with OSHA regulations, safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective action management in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • OSHA 30-hour certification or higher preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain and maintain.
  • EMT or First Responder certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed compliance records and reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all organizational levels.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to loud noise, heat, machinery, and hazardous materials.
  • Ability to climb industrial stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
