Job summary

Arcwood Environmental, LLC is seeking a Safety Coordinator to support health, safety and compliance initiatives at our facility. You will assist leadership in enforcing regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience working within health and safety related programs (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a safety-related field preferred
  • First-Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred
  • High-school diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities

  • Oversees inspections of emergency equipment and maintains safety signs (PPE, spill kits, etc.)
  • Monitors safety equipment and performs inspections of all safety signs
  • Conducts safety audits and aids in program oversight (First-Aid, Respirator, Housekeeping, Heat Stress, Safe Work Permit)
  • Serves as Co-Chair for safety roundtable meetings
  • On-call support for emergency medical situations on site

Job description

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Safety Coordinator

As the Safety Coordinator you will be responsible for assisting facility personnel with health, safety and compliance related activities and other designated support programs including ISO 9001 or Corporate Health and Safety initiatives. This role will assist leadership in promoting adherence to applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies and practices.

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Assists with the implementation of safety and compliance processes and procedures
  • Provides support and oversight in reviewing and monitoring work practices of team members while on site
  • Maintains the ability to be ‘on-call’ to respond to emergency medical situations at the facility and escorts team members for medical assessment as needed
  • Performs daily, weekly and monthly inspections of all emergency equipment and maintains, cleans and restocks materials as needed
  • Monitors, calibrates and maintains safety equipment (4-Gas meters, sample gloves, etc.) and performs inspections of all safety signs (PPE, spill kits, etc.)
  • Inspects all production processes for appropriate fire suppression equipment
  • Conducts key procedure audits across the facility, including review and entry
  • Oversees the Short-Service Employee Program and the Respirator Program, including employee approval, fit test, tracking, etc.
  • Monitors and provides oversight for the First-Aid Program, including supplying first-aid kits and stocking cabinet appropriately and training and certifying team members
  • Manages the Housekeeping Program, Heat Stress Program, and Safe Work Permit Program, including training, audits, reviews, and facility checks, etc.
  • Serves as a Co-Chair for facility safety roundtable meetings
  • Conducts Post-Accident and Reasonable Suspicion drug and alcohol screening
  • Performs occasional, scheduled visits for the night-shift
  • Maintains and updates safety data sheet materials including via hard and digital copies
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
Education
  • High-school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a safety-related field (preferred)
  • First-Aid/CPR/AED certification (preferred)
Experience
  • 1+ years of experience working within health and safety related programs (preferred)
