Job summary

Airswift is seeking a Safety Coordinator in Kingsport, TN for a 6-month role focused on leading site safety programs and ensuring OSHA compliance. The role involves field leadership, audits, incident investigations and coordinating safety training with site teams.

The candidate will drive continuous safety improvements, manage safety records, and collaborate with management and contractors to integrate safety into daily planning and execution. Office tools and regulatory knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive safety experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, energy, or similar field-based environments.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, safety audits and compliance assessments.
• Experience supporting site operations and monitoring contractor adherence to safety expectations and work practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation and continuous improvement of site-specific safety programs, procedures and initiatives.
• Provide visible field leadership through site inspections, safety observations, and engagement with employees and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, client requirements, and company safety standards.
• Conduct site safety audits, risk assessments, JHAs, and behavioural safety observations.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Facilitate safety orientations, training programs, toolbox talks, emergency drills, and leadership safety meetings.
• Partner with project management and field supervision to integrate safety into planning and execution activities.
• Monitor contractor performance and verify adherence to safety expectations and work practices.
• Maintain accurate safety records, metrics, reports, and regulatory documentation.
• Support emergency preparedness activities and coordinate response during incidents.
• Promote a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement in safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

Required Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive safety experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, energy, or similar field-based environments.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, safety audits and compliance assessments.
• Experience supporting site operations and monitoring contractor adherence to established safety expectations and work practices.
• Experience working in field-based project environments with regular site inspections, safety observations and employee engagement.

Required Skills

• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental regulations, industry best practices and risk management principles.
• Ability to lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of site-specific HSE programmes, procedures and initiatives.
• Capability to conduct site safety audits, job hazard analyses, behavioural safety observations and risk assessments.
• Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence site leadership, supervisors, craft personnel and contractors.
• Ability to deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, emergency drills, training programmes and leadership safety meetings.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHST, SMS, or equivalent (Preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• Experience supporting large project sites and managing safety performance across diverse contractor organisations.
• High angle rescue experience would be advantageous.
