Job Description

Job Description

Our Company:

We are a group of forward-thinking construction professionals, with our heads set on accurate and professional work alongside ambitious visions to elevate the Latino community. With our 4 sister companies, we invest in properties, do general construction work, and specialize in multi-family siding and Brick installation. We have been a part of the construction world for over 20 years and are committed to continuing growing and influencing the Carolinas!

Your Role: The Safety Coordinator owns the safety function at Casanova — responsible for building, executing, and continuously improving a safety program that protects our workforce, reduces liability, and keeps our job sites in full OSHA and client compliance. We are looking for someone who has operated in a field safety capacity before, understands construction environments, and can hit the ground running. The right candidate brings a mix of technical safety knowledge, organizational discipline, and interpersonal authority to proactively enforce standards with crews and subcontractors. The Safety Coordinator reports to the Project Manager and works closely with Field Managers across active job sites. When safety standards are not being met, this person is expected to act — stopping work, issuing corrective directives, or escalating to leadership — with the full backing of the organization.

CORE FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Prevention

  • Competent Person Training: identify and designate a Competent Person for each job site in accordance with applicable OSHA standards; deliver role‑specific safety training before project start and document completion.
  • Pre-Project Safety Talk: lead mandatory safety orientation before the first day of operations on every new project, covering job‑specific hazards, emergency procedures, and Casanova safety policies.
  • Competent Person Evaluations: conduct recurring performance evaluations of the designated Competent Person on each project.
  • When the Competent Person is a subcontractor, the Field Manager assigned to that project is accountable for executing this evaluation.
  • Job Site Inspections: perform scheduled and unscheduled visits to active job sites to identify unsafe conditions; generate documented corrective or preventive action items and follow up to confirm resolution.
  • PPE Management: ensure proper personal protective equipment is available, in good condition, and correctly used across all job sites; conduct periodic PPE audits and coordinate replenishment as needed.
  • Emergency Protocol: develop, maintain, and implement a documented emergency response plan for all active job sites; ensure all site personnel are aware of emergency contacts, first aid resources, and evacuation procedures.

Documentation & Record Keeping

  • Training Records: maintain complete records of all safety trainings, including attendees, dates, topics covered, and sign‑off confirmations.
  • Accident & Incident Logs: document all accidents and incidents thoroughly, including parties involved, site conditions, and actions taken.
  • Inspection Reports: maintain detailed reports for every job site inspection, including photographs, findings, and corrective action status.
  • Evaluation Records: keep an updated history of all Competent Person evaluations with results and observations.
  • Safety Forms Control: manage all official safety forms used across projects — JSAs, toolbox talk sheets, work permits.
  • Quarterly Safety Report: produce a quarterly summary covering inspection completion rate, open corrective actions, incident count, and training compliance; present findings to leadership.

Reaction & Incident Response

  • Accident Investigation: conduct a structured root cause analysis for any accident, including interviews, site review, and a formal written report; identify contributing factors and recommend preventive measures.
  • Disciplinary Actions: coordinate with leadership to execute the appropriate disciplinary process when safety policy violations are identified; maintain confidential documentation of all actions taken.
  • Emergency Response Execution: serve as the first point of contact when a safety emergency occurs on site; coordinate immediate response, engage first aid or emergency services as needed, and document the event in full. Has authority to halt work on any job site when an imminent danger is identified.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2–4 years of experience in a field safety, EHS, or construction safety role. Experience in specialty trade or exterior construction is a strong plus.
  • Bilingual — English and Spanish, conversational level required. Must be able to communicate effectively with field crews and client crews; written fluency is a plus but not required.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred; OSHA 10 minimum. Candidates without current certification must be willing to obtain it — employer support provided.
  • Familiarity with 29 CFR 1926 (Construction Safety Standards). Working knowledge of OSHA inspection procedures, recordkeeping requirements, and Competent Person standards.
  • Proven ability to exercise authority in the field —has stopped work, issued corrective directives, or escalated disciplinary matters in a prior role. This is not a desk position.
  • Strong documentation discipline; understands that incomplete records are as much a liability as an unsafe job site.
  • Clear, direct communicator — proactive with leadership and credible with field crews and subcontractors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and basic office tools; comfortable learning and working within safety management systems.
  • Associate’s degree or coursework in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, or a related field is a plus.
  • First Aid / CPR certification is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license required. Must be able to commute to relocate the Mint Hill, NC area and travel regularly to active job sites.
