Job description

Safety Compliance Coordinator

This position reports to the Director of Safety and Compliance. The Safety Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that operations conduct business within the guidelines set forth by FMCSA and DOT. This position works collaboratively with safety and compliance teams to maintain accurate tracking of hours of service, commercial vehicles, incidents, and performance.

Pay Range: $65,000 - $75,000 DOE

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform periodic reviews of fleet maintenance against performance results to ensure asset reliability and develop strategies to address gaps.
  • Conduct audits on fleet program performance in coordination with the Director of Compliance.
  • Develop asset management policies, procedures, and best practices based on fleet use, lifecycle, and ownership costs.
  • Create fleet lifecycle plans to maximize ROI.
  • Maintain oversight and reporting of ELD use in support of compliance, ensuring consistent application of ELD devices.
  • Audit driver daily logs for accuracy and Hours of Service violations, ensuring compliance with FMCSR section 395.
  • Review driver records for compliance and falsification, report findings, and implement corrective actions.
  • Proficiently edit E-logs and respond to log support inquiries.
  • Stop operations that could harm employees or equipment.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries and conduct safety training and inspections.
  • Review and recommend improvements to safety training programs.
  • Assist in workers' compensation claims and incident management, including reporting and coordination with insurers and staff.

Qualifications:

  • Strong desire to succeed and a proactive approach to safety and compliance.
  • Deep experience in commercial vehicle fleet management and data analytics.
  • Understanding of fleet maintenance policies, DOT standards, and industry practices.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with vendors and internal teams, multitask, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Approachable, open-minded, and a team player with strong interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements: Routine walking, standing, bending, and lifting items up to 50 lbs. Use team lifts for heavier items.
