Job summary

Block by Block in Providence, RI is seeking a Safety Ambassador. You will patrol zones on foot or by bike, deter unwanted behavior and provide information to pedestrians, while maintaining a positive, professional demeanor.

This role involves reporting incidents to authorities with accurate descriptions. You will engage the public, request compliance when needed, and document activities in simple daily reports.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred; on-the-job training provided.
• Valid Driver's License preferred.
• Must have a HS Diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to walk or bike for an eight-hour shift with breaks.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/or bike as a deterrent and be on the lookout for unwanted behavior.
• Provide information, assistance and directions to pedestrians and visitors, maintaining a positive demeanor.
• Report to local authorities for unlawful activity with clear descriptions of persons, vehicles and identifiers.
• Request compliance from individuals involved in low-level quality-of-life issues in a firm but courteous manner.
• Greet pedestrians to offer directions and city information.
• Visit zone businesses to share information and collect contact details.
• Complete basic daily reports in English.

Job Title: Safety Ambassador

Pay Range: $21.80to $21.80per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Pay Day!)

Shift/Schedule:

• 11:30am to 8:00pm
• OFF Days = Thu. & Sun.

Valid Driver's License PREFERRED

What You'll Be Doing

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/or bike as a deterrent and be on the lookout for unwanted behavior and activity.
• Provide information, assistance and directions to pedestrians and visitors. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to local authorities via established communication methods. Must be able to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles, and other identifiers.
• Firmly and courteously request compliance from persons violating low-level quality-of-life crimes, such as panhandling, loitering, disruptive behavior, etc.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and city information.
• Responsible for making a specified number of visits to zone businesses to share information and gather contact information.
• Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.

Requirements

• Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse (including riding a bike) continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided)
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
