Job summary

Helix Electric is seeking a Safety Assistant Intern in Atlanta, GA to support the Safety Manager on construction projects and promote a safe working environment for field crews.

The intern will assist with safety training, incident investigations, site audits, and regulatory compliance while contributing to Helix's service-oriented safety culture on the job site.

Responsibilities

• Support Safety Manager to promote a safe working environment on site.
• Gain knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements with Safety Manager.
• Act as champion of Helix safety culture and prevent accidents.
• Assist with incident investigations, site audits, and EH&S compliance.
• Assist with new hire orientations and safety-related tasks.
• Collaborate to evaluate performance against safety policies and protocols.
• Identify training needs and conduct safety trainings.
• Assist site management with close site support.
• Assist in medical case management.
• Ensure training completions and safety documentation is submitted.
• Review reports for trends and recommend protocol changes.
• Perform other work as assigned.

SUMMARY:

The Safety Assistant Intern assists their Safety Manager on construction projects to establish and communicate a safe working environment to the field and crews. In this role, the Safety Assistant Intern is responsible for promoting and supporting the Helix safety culture and process as well as providing leadership and direction to their job site.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Willing to embrace our safety culture, “We are a service-oriented safety team, dedicated to supporting and helping our teams in the field”
• Collaborate with Safety manager to gain knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements
• Act as a champion of the Helix safety culture; monitors and encourages jobsite safety and accident prevention
• Support incident investigation process, site audits, subcontractor EH&S compliance, assist with new hire orientations and any additional safety-related tasks as assigned
• Partner with the safety team to evaluate the performance of Helix operational personnel regarding regulatory issues as well as Helix corporate safety policy and protocols
• Assist in the identification of safety-related training needs as well as conducting safety-related training
• Assist site management and supervision with close site support
• Assist in medical case management
• Assure training completions and other safety-related documentation is completed and submitted as required
• Review reports for trends and makes recommendations for protocol adjustments
• Performs other work as assigned
