Job description

Position Location

This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Western Region in Phoenix, Arizona. It is responsible for managing and implementing an effective and comprehensive regional-wide Safety and Health Management Program.

GS-12 Minimum Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.

Examples of specialized experience include:
  • Managing safety or occupational health program elements independently;
  • Developing and recommending safety and occupational health policies to higher management;
  • Applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters;
  • Developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control hazards;
  • Implementing programs to reduce accidents and occupational illnesses;
  • Analyzing or evaluating jobs, processes, products, or systems for hazards;
  • Designing or modifying workplaces or processes to control hazards;
  • Inspecting workplaces for compliance and hazards; and
  • Training employees in safety or occupational health subjects.

Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.
