Job Summary

The Safety and Asset Protection Coordinator is responsible for supporting and coordinating workplace safety, regulatory compliance, security, loss prevention, and asset protection activities across all AMS locations. Serving as a primary internal resource, this role monitors safety and security programs, conducts inspections and audits, investigates incidents, identifies operational risks, coordinates corrective actions, and supports the implementation of policies and procedures designed to protect associates, clients, inventory, equipment, facilities, and company assets. The coordinator also partners with Operations, Human Resources, Facilities, Quality, and other functional teams to promote a safe, secure, and compliant work environment while supporting continuous improvement and risk reduction initiatives.

Work Status Requirement:This position is designated as in-person; any change to work status, including remote, hybrid, or part-time arrangements, must be reviewed and approved by Human Resources prior to implementation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate safety, security, loss prevention, and asset protection programs across applicable AMS locations.
• Conduct routine safety inspections, facility walkthroughs, security reviews, and operational audits to identify hazards, vulnerabilities, and opportunities for improvement.
• Monitor compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, DOT, fire/life safety, environmental, security, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local safety, security, and regulatory requirements and communicate changes to affected stakeholders.
• Identify workplace hazards, security vulnerabilities, inventory risks, and other conditions that may result in injury, loss, damage, theft, or operational disruption.
• Develop, implement, and maintain safety, security, emergency response, loss prevention, and asset protection procedures and SOPs.
• Investigate workplace injuries, near misses, property damage, theft, inventory discrepancies, security incidents, and other loss events; document findings and coordinate corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, investigations, inspections, corrective actions, training, regulatory documentation, and asset protection activities.
• Coordinate root-cause analysis and corrective action plans for safety incidents, security events, and operational losses.
• Partner with Operations and management to implement corrective and preventive actions and monitor their effectiveness.
• Conduct safety and security training and provide guidance to associates and leadership regarding safe work practices, hazard recognition, emergency procedures, security awareness, and asset protection.
• Coordinate required safety training, certifications, and refresher training while maintaining accurate training records.
• Support the development, implementation, and testing of emergency action plans, evacuation procedures, business continuity procedures, and emergency response protocols.
• Coordinate emergency drills, inspections, and preparedness activities, including fire, severe weather, workplace violence, hazardous material incidents, and other applicable emergencies.
• Monitor access control, visitor management, key and badge control, surveillance systems, alarm systems, and other security measures as applicable.
• Partner with facility leadership and security providers to investigate unauthorized access, theft, suspicious activity, and other security concerns.
• Monitor inventory and asset protection controls and assist in identifying trends related to shortages, damages, theft, misappropriation, or other losses.
• Conduct inventory, equipment, and facility audits as required and document discrepancies or control deficiencies.
• Support the development and implementation of security and loss prevention measures designed to protect client inventory, company property, equipment, information, and other assets.
• Review incident trends and operational data to identify recurring risks and recommend improvements that reduce injuries, losses, damages, and security exposures.
• Prepare safety, security, incident, loss prevention, and compliance reports for management review.
• Maintain safety data, inspection records, incident documentation, OSHA/Cal/OSHA records, training records, SDS information, and other required compliance documentation.
• Serve as a point of contact for regulatory inspections, insurance inquiries, safety investigations, security incidents, and other compliance-related matters.
• Coordinate with Human Resources regarding workplace injuries, workers' compensation documentation, employee safety concerns, and workplace investigations as appropriate.
• Partner with Facilities and Operations to ensure required safety equipment, PPE, emergency supplies, signage, first-aid equipment, fire protection equipment, and other safety resources are available and maintained.
• Verify that safety equipment, emergency equipment, and security systems are inspected, tested, and maintained in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Support contractor and vendor safety requirements, including site access, safety expectations, documentation, and compliance.
• Promote a proactive safety culture by communicating expectations, recognizing hazards, encouraging reporting, and supporting employee engagement in safety initiatives.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion when handling security incidents, investigations, employee information, loss events, and other sensitive matters.
• Assist with special projects and continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, security, risk management, compliance, and asset protection.

Qualifications: Qualifications

• Working knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, workplace safety, and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
• Experience with workplace safety, security, loss prevention, asset protection, risk management, or a related field.
• Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, and corrective action activities.
• Knowledge of warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or other industrial operating environments.
• Familiarity with OSHA recordkeeping requirements and workplace injury reporting.
• Experience developing and delivering safety training and employee awareness programs.
• Knowledge of emergency preparedness, emergency response procedures, and workplace security practices.
• Experience with incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action processes.
• Familiarity with security systems, access control, surveillance systems, alarm systems, and visitor management processes preferred.
• Experience with inventory control, loss prevention, asset protection, or shortage investigation preferred.
• Continuous improvement experience (Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with proven expertise in Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, assess risk, and recommend practical solutions.
• Project management and planning experience with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate safety, security, and compliance requirements to associates, leadership, vendors, and external stakeholders.

Working Conditions

This role operates within a structured warehouse and production environment where adherence to established safety procedures, workflow sequences, and operational timelines is essential to maintaining a safe and efficient workplace. The position requires regular movement throughout warehouse, office, production, shipping, receiving, and storage areas and may require extended periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, stretching, and repetitive motion(s). The associate may be required to inspect or access various areas of the facility, including areas containing warehouse equipment, racking, conveyors, loading docks, shipping and receiving areas, and other operational environments.

The position may involve exposure to variable temperature conditions, elevated noise levels, moving equipment, powered industrial trucks, warehouse traffic, dust, packaging materials, and other conditions consistent with standard warehouse and manufacturing operations. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used when required.
