Job summary

School Bus Company is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious School Bus Driver to transport students to and from school, field trips, and other scheduled activities. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, has excellent driving skills, and takes pride in providing safe, dependable transportation.

A valid CDL with Passenger endorsement is required; candidates must meet Illinois requirements for operating a school bus.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL with Passenger endorsement — REQUIRED.
• School Bus endorsement or eligibility per Illinois regulations.
• Clean and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass background checks, drug/alcohol testing, and physicals.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Effective communication with students, parents/staff.
• Calm, patient, and professional with children.
• Prior school bus or transportation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school and activities.
• Follow routes, schedules, and transportation procedures.
• Maintain safe, orderly environment on the bus.
• Follow traffic laws, regulations, and safety procedures.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
• Assist students with boarding and exiting as needed.
• Communicate with school staff, parents/guardians, and transport staff.
• Keep bus clean and in safe condition.
• Complete transportation records and reports.
• Maintain student confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Participate in required safety training and meetings.
