Job summary

The American Red Cross Southern California region is seeking a paid part-time intern to assist in the assessment and development of SAF programs, conduct research, and support military and veteran engagement events.

This internship provides hands-on experience in program support and community outreach related to the Services to the Armed Forces mission, with opportunities to work on data, reports, and event coordination in the San Diego area.

Qualifications

• Enrolled undergraduate student; internship may require university credit hours.
• Up to 1 year of related experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the assessment and development of SAF programs.
• Conduct research related to the programs and recommend processes for greater efficiency.
• Assist with the creation and/or maintenance of program plans and systems.
• Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with SOPs and regulations.
• Support unit with research projects.
• Analyze data, present facts, and recommend solutions.
• Create, develop, or maintain databases for various events or projects.
• Assist with the development of reports and other informational materials.
• Conduct unit-specific responsibilities.
• Support and/or manage multiple SAF programs.
• Assist with strategic planning operations.
• Help coordinate referrals to community and government agencies.
• Participate in military and veteran engagement events and outreach.

• Conduct research related to the programs and recommend processes for greater efficiency.
• Assist with the creation and/or maintenance of program plans and systems.
• Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.
• Support unit with research projects.
• Analyze data, present facts, and recommend solutions.
• Create, develop, or maintain databases for various lines of service events or projects.
• Assist with the development of reports and other informational materials presented to management.
• Conduct unit-specific responsibilities.
• Support and/or manage multiple SAF programs.
• Assist with strategic planning operations.
• Help coordinate direct referrals to appropriate community and government agencies.
• Participate in military and veteran engagement events and community outreach in the region.
• Assist in the development and evaluation of veteran and military focused programs.

Requirements

• Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at an accredited college or university in San Diego county.
• High School or equivalent required. Internship is typically part of an undergraduate program which requires some university credit hours.
• Up to 1 year of related experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
• Ability to work on a team.
• Prior volunteer experience highly preferred.
