Base pay range

$51.00/yr - $51.00/yr

The sabbatical replacement, temporary part-time cataloger will perform original cataloging with an emphasis on special collections materials. In this capacity, they will be creating and updating MARC bibliographic records in OCLC according to national standards, creating new and/or verifying and assigning existing Library of Congress Classification numbers, and updating holdings in OCLC to ensure accurate representation in WorldCat.

The ideal candidate will have experience with original cataloging of special collections materials, with a particular emphasis on art and design books and artists’ books. While the majority of the work will focus on special collections materials, other standard library materials may be included as needed.

Education/Experience

• MLS from an accredited institution.
• More than five years of cataloging experience and the requisite knowledge of Library of Congress Authorities and RDA Cataloging Standards
• Knowledge of special collections cataloging standards (RDA, AACR2, DCRM, MARC21, LCSH, AAT, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience performing original cataloging on unique materials.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills.

• Experience working with Sierra ILS, OCLC Connexion, WebDewey.

Work Schedule

This is a six month part-time position with flexible hours of 10-15 hours per week starting in July 2025. Evening and weekend hours are available.

Location:

This is an on-site position and the work will take place on Pratt’s historic 25-acre campus in the culturally diverse neighborhood of Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
