Job Description

The ACS Publications, a division of the American Chemical Society (ACS), is searching for an energetic, results-driven professional to help increase academic business in Latin America (Spanish-speaking countries). The ideal candidate should be skilled in relationship management, sales, and market strategy development.

The American Chemical Society (ACS) is the world’s largest scientific membership organization, with a global presence. ACS Publications, a division of ACS, aims to advance knowledge in chemistry and the chemical enterprise. It publishes over 85 peer-reviewed journals and offers other scientific products and services.

The division has US-based facilities in Washington, D.C., and Columbus, OH, with international operations in the UK, Singapore, China, and India.

The Latin America Account Manager will support revenue growth by managing relationships, expanding market presence, and driving sales in the academic sector within Latin America and the Caribbean. Responsibilities include identifying and nurturing leads, understanding customer needs, and providing tailored solutions to enhance research. The role involves executing sales strategies to increase subscriptions, licensing, institutional agreements, and pursuing new business opportunities. Managing the sales pipeline via CRM, participating in events, webinars, and marketing campaigns are also key activities.

The position requires a science or business background, ability to work independently and in a team, and some travel within Latin America and periodically to the US. It is based in Columbus, OH, reporting to the ACS Publications Latin America Manager.

Primary Duties

  • Develop and execute sales plans to expand market share and revenue in Latin America.
  • Build and manage relationships with customers.
  • Support business activities like webinars, trainings, and events in Latin America.
  • Identify, contact, and nurture leads through various channels.
  • Manage sales leads generated by marketing.
  • Seek new business opportunities and develop relationships with prospects.
  • Manage subscription renewal processes.
  • Expand Read + Publish deals.
  • Address customer issues and demonstrate the value of ACS content.
  • Conduct sales calls and meetings.
  • Present ACS products and solutions via phone, email, online, and in person.
  • Utilize CRM for lead and pipeline management.
  • Participate in local sales and marketing activities.
  • Develop partnerships with Latin American institutions.
  • Assist in planning sales and business strategies for Latin America.

Education & Skills Requirements

  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Four-year degree in science or business preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Experience in preparing presentations and conducting sales conversations.
  • Networked within the academic sector.

Experience Requirements

  • At least five years of direct sales experience.
  • Experience with CRM systems.
  • Understanding of the Latin American academic and science ecosystem.
