SUMMIT AVIATION, INC. is seeking a S92 Avionic Technician to perform installation, repair, modification and routine maintenance on aircraft avionics. The role reports to the Avionics Manager and emphasizes safety, accuracy and timely documentation of work performed.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting avionics systems, interpreting manuals and diagrams, and fabricating wire bundles as required. Travel is varied, with a US-wide work environment in general aviation.

POSITION SUMMARY

The S92 Avionics Technician reports to the Avionics Manager and is responsible for the installation, repair, modification and routine maintenance on aircraft as required; operates in compliance with company safety practices and performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible to repair, modify, install, and perform routine maintenance of all Avionics systems with accuracy and with minimal assistance.
2. Accurately interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, system schematics, drawings, engineering orders and other documents from both the customer and company.
3. Apply deductive reasoning to troubleshoot and repair and/or check complex systems.
4. Properly utilize Avionics test equipment to perform systems test and keep abreast of new and advanced test equipment and the use of such equipment.
5. Properly utilize and maintain Avionics hand tools to perform repairs and installations.
6. Keep leadership and co-workers apprised of work progress and/or problems.
7. Accurately document work performed as set forth by company and customer maintenance programs on a daily basis using the standard format.
8. Fabricate per drawings and standard practices, as well as wire bundles and assemblies to include marking of wires, properly securing wires into bundles, and termination of wires into a variety of contacts and connectors.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years of prior experience as an avionic technician and an A&P license preferred. Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully an individual should have the ability to interact with and enter data into spreadsheet software.

Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team environment and self-direct work.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit; walk, talk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to travel occasionally.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions such as extreme cold and heat, work near moving mechanical parts and vibration and work in high, precarious places. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and work with explosives. The noise level in the work environment falls within acceptable limits of OSHA guidelines.
