Job Title

Support Services Assistant (Housekeeping)

GENERAL SUMMARY

This is full-time evening work under the direct supervision of a senior support services assistant. The position supports the Housekeeping and Janitorial Services area under the Sergeant at Arms Office.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
  1. Makes deliveries and runs errands as required.
  2. Keeps chamber, offices, halls, and restrooms clean.
  3. Performs routine janitorial duties to maintain general orderliness and cleanliness as needed.
  4. Makes minor repairs of office furniture and equipment.
  5. Disburses expendable materials and supplies for official use.
  6. Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies as required.
  7. Assists with taking supply and property inventories.
  8. Removes office trash and discarded items.
  9. Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of record-keeping procedures.
  • Knowledge of cleaning, repairing, and building maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to organize work, follow, and interpret instructions.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion.
  • Ability to recognize dangerous or potentially dangerous situations.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to follow office procedures and practices.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned areas.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Salary

$31,200 annually. The Legislature offers a competitive benefits package.
