Job summary

Central Fill is a centralized pharmacy operation in Freedom, PA, that supports filling a high-volume of prescriptions for our retail pharmacies with the help of robotics and automation. As a Fill Center Pharmacy Packaging Technician at Giant Eagle, you’ll be a key part of our collaborative team.

• Experience in drug handling protocols and time-bound fulfillment.
• Eligible to obtain pharmacy technician registration with the applicable state board of pharmacy.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Remove out-of-date medications using proper procedures.
• Train and mentor new department Team members.
• Report errors, omissions and incidents to Pharmacist on duty.
• Perform, under supervision, the direct preparation and filling of a prescription.
• Label bottles and prepackaged items accurately.
• Replenish canisters with consumables for prescription fulfillment.
• Maintain a neat and clean work environment to meet company and government requirements.
• Operate semi-automatic cabinet to fill customer orders.
• Maintain production rates and meet quality expectations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
• Certification or Licensing Required: Eligible to obtain registration as pharmacy technician with the applicable state board of pharmacy
• Experience Desired: Experience in drug handling protocols and best practices in a time-bound fulfillment order process
• Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 10 pounds
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities

• Recognize, address and elevate system issues.
• Adhere to all company, state and federal policies, laws and regulations, including HIPAA.
• Operate semi-automatic cabinet in order to fill customer orders.
• Maintain production rates and meet quality expectations as determined by leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
