Job summary

Helen Woodward Animal Center, a globally recognized animal welfare organization in California, seeks a Licensed Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) for a full-time role in Adoptions. The position requires a CA RVT license and at least 6 months of hands-on veterinary experience.

Expect diverse duties including surgery assistance, anesthesia, radiography, and routine medical procedures, with offsite duties as needed. Salary is $34 per hour with weekends/holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Current CA RVT license required.
• At least 6 months hands-on experience in a veterinary setting.
• Knowledge of anesthesia and ability to operate an anesthesia machine.
• Ability to operate an x-ray machine and ensure diagnostic-quality radiographs.
• Ability to follow veterinary orders without supervision.
• Lift up to 55 lbs, or up to 100 lbs with assistance; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarian in surgery, including anesthesia induction, intubation, prepping animals, and monitoring recovery.
• Perform dental cleanings and extractions as directed by the veterinarian.
• Assist with examinations and animal intakes; participate in offsite duties as needed.
• Administer vaccines, fecal exams, medications, and catheter placements.
• Care for hold animals with feeding, hygiene, and enrichment; monitor health.
• Radiograph animals and ensure radiographs meet diagnostic quality, stock supplies.
