Job summary

Maple Tree Veterinary Hospital in North Carolina is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to manage our in-house pharmacy and serve as the link between doctors and clients.

You will fill prescriptions, counsel on medications, handle doctor callbacks, and support the treatment team during busy periods or emergencies, using your pharmacology knowledge daily.

Preference for RVTs with NC registration, experience in medication management, and familiarity with systems such as EzyVet are valued.

Qualifications

• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in North Carolina or eligible for NC registration.
• Strong working knowledge of veterinary medications, their uses, effects, and interactions.
• Excellent phone manner and client communication skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Accurately fill, label, and dispense prescriptions under veterinarian direction.
• Apply pharmacology knowledge to drug interactions, contraindications, side effects, and dosing across species.
• Counsel clients on medication use, administration techniques, and potential side effects.
• Make client callbacks for veterinarians: relay lab results, treatment updates, and follow-up care instructions.
• Triage medication questions and escalate clinical decisions to doctors as needed.
• Manage pharmacy inventory, ordering, expiration tracking, and controlled substance logs.
• Document all communications and dispensing accurately in the practice management software.
• Assist the treatment and exam room teams during busy periods or emergencies.
