GE Aerospace will be hiring for the Advanced Machinist/Toolmaker Apprentice Program in Rutland, VT.

The program is a three-year curriculum consisting of rotational manufacturing assignments and classroom training. You will work in a fast-paced work environment supporting jet engine fan and compressor airfoils production. Program students are required to attend classes 3-4 nights a week throughout the 3-year program. All tuition for classes will be paid for by GE Aerospace. Past program graduates have gone on to significant roles in technical & leadership assignments. Program graduates will earn a certificate of completion and college credits from Vermont State University that can be applied towards an Associate Degree in Applied Science. Starting rate of pay is $29.14 per hour.

Application Minimum Requirements:

  1. Must be at least 18 years old by August 18, 2025
  2. High School Diploma or GED
  3. Basic computer skills
  4. A letter outlining why you want to participate in the program
  5. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen including testing for marijuana
  6. Ability and willingness to earn a certificate of completion in the registered 3-year apprentice program with the State of Vermont
  7. Must be willing to attend class 3-4 nights per week after working an 8-hour day
  8. Must be available to take the Accuplacer exam during ONE of the sessions offered at Stafford Technical Center – (Rutland - testing options will be provided to applicants)

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Set-up & operate manual and CNC machines
  2. Understand and perform the following for each machine operate skill as identified in your skill profile
  3. Follow area and machine safety practices/procedures
  4. Follow work instructions and routing sheets
  5. Proper material handling technique
  6. Ability to perform machine pre-checks
  7. Set-up and operate machines
  8. Inspection and minor machine maintenance
  9. Download programs
  10. Input offset changes and change cutting tools
  11. Provide bench skills which will include benching and inspection
  12. Perform other related duties as required

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
