Job summary

The United States Postal Service is seeking Rural Carrier Associates to deliver and collect mail along a prescribed rural route using a vehicle. Desirable candidates may need a vehicle and live within easy commuting distance of the facility location.

The job is physically demanding and work is performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. Duties include sorting mail, delivering to customers, selling stamps and money orders, handling accountable mail, and maintaining daily route

Qualifications

• Physically demanding work, indoors and outdoors in all weather.
• May require a vehicle suitable for use and living within commuting distance.
• Loads of mail and parcels up to 70 pounds.
• Weekend or Saturday work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Sorts mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route.
• Delivers mail to customers on a prescribed route by vehicle.
• Sells stamps, money orders, and handles accountable mail.
• Loads mail into vehicle and maintains route records.
• Prepares daily trip reports and maintains customer lists.
• Maintains mail security at all times.
