Job summary

California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc. (CRLA) seeks a Justice Center Director for its Madera office to lead operations, advocacy, and community-oriented litigation.

The role requires guiding a multidisciplinary team, managing a personal caseload, and building strong partnerships to advance civil rights and equity for rural communities. The Director will ensure an equity-centered workspace, align with CRLA's community lawyering principles, oversee annual work plans, and collaborate across CRLA

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience serving historically marginalized populations.
• At least 3 years in advocacy roles, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with diverse community groups.
• Admitted to the California Bar or willing to take the California Bar Exam.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of attorneys, community workers, and staff.
• Build partnerships with local organizations to inform advocacy and expand reach.
• Design and oversee initiatives that empower community members to identify systemic issues.
• Oversee CRLA Justice Center operations, work plans, and compliance.
• Foster collaboration across CRLA programs and centers.
