Wallowa Memorial Hospital & Medical Clinics seeks a Chief Medical Officer to lead clinical excellence and physician engagement in a rural Oregon community. The CMO will balance strategic leadership with a part-time clinical practice, partnering with executive and medical staff to improve quality, access, and patient safety.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Current unrestricted Oregon medical license.
• Board certification in an appropriate specialty.
• Active Medical Staff membership in good standing.
• Current DEA registration, if applicable.
• Current certifications required for assigned clinical practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide physician leadership across hospital, clinic, emergency, surgical, obstetric, swing bed, rehabilitation, pharmacy, laboratory, imaging, EMS, and ancillary services.
• Lead physician engagement, recruitment, onboarding, retention and professional development.
• Champion quality, patient safety, and performance improvement with clinical leadership support.
• Collaborate with nursing, administration, and medical staff to improve utilization, standards, and care coordination.
• Maintain an active clinical practice aligned with privileges and organizational needs.
