Core Responsibilities

The Maine CDC Office of Rural Health and Primary Care is looking for a Rural Health Workforce Coordinator to provide educational support for multiple grant programs, including rural outreach to rural healthcare facilities and allied health professionals, and coordinate the J1 Conrad 30 Program, which includes reviewing applications, reporting, and technical and educational support as requested. Collaboration with partners and outreach to our rural health facilities. This support will enable RHPCP staff to reduce health inequities among the rural communities within Maine.

As a Rural Health Workforce Coordinator for the Rural Health and Primary Care program, you will plan, implement, and evaluate activities about rural health and ensure the integration of rural health and primary care activities with other initiatives and applicable sections of DHHS and other governmental agencies, as appropriate. You will also assist in integrating the activities of local rural community-based care systems as appropriate.

This position directly supports the Rural Health and Primary Care Program's Federal Grant Programs, which include working with Maine's rural health care facilities and providers on educational outreach and support workforce programming, loan forgiveness programs, and other rural workforce incentives. These state and federal programs require data collection, tracking of grant-related activities, and impact. This position will also assist the Program Manager and Director on special workforce-related projects. This work will also support implementation of workplan activities through the federal grant programs. The position will provide outreach and technical assistance to our program participants. Additionally, you will help collect and analyze data to prepare reports for the Rural Health Program.

As a key member of the RHPCP team, your core responsibilities will include
  • Supporting rural health workforce development activities
  • Ensuring that grants and workplan activities are implemented and tracked to meet all state and federal requirements.
  • Collaborating with partners throughout the state on workforce initiatives and activities.
  • Providing technical assistance and outreach as requested.
  • Preparing reports for the Rural Health Program on workforce-related projects.
  • Organizing data in multiple forms (numbers, stories, and more) to share our successes and challenges
  • Attending and participating rural health career and outreach activities
  • Preparing and distributing information regarding rural health careers
  • Tracking state and federal annual reports such as 3RNET and J1 semi-annual reports.
  • Maintaining the Rural Health & Primary Care Programs database, TruServe, and report out when necessary.
  • Working with the Public Health Districts to provide outreach on Rural Health & Primary Care Programs.
  • Assisting with legislative tracking and reporting when required by the Department.
  • Working with the Rural Health & Primary Program Manager and Director on other programs as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelors Degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, Health Education, or related field -OR- an acceptable equivalent four (4) year combination of education, training, and/or experience in the health education field.
Preferred candidates will also have
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to assist the RHPCP in preparing documents.
  • Work with multiple partners both federally and within the State of Maine.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Canva, and other relevant platforms used by the RHPCP.
  • Knowledge of data platforms and ability to put together data presentations when requested.
  • Ability to work independently and with team members.
