Location & Schedule

LOCATION: Alameda, San Joaquin, Sacramento, Amador

SCHEDULE: Full Time, Remote

TRAVEL REQUIRED: 50% – 75%

Compensation

COMPENSATION: $58,795.00 to $137,777.00 base salary plus potential for variable compensation and additional incentive based upon sales production as defined by the respective incentive plan. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.

Opportunity Summary

The Rural 1st Loan Officer (RLO) is a sales position primarily responsible for building relationships with business contacts and customers in the consumer market segment. The RLO will use knowledge of the consumer marketplace, products and finance to understand the customer’s or prospect’s business and personal plans and then market the Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st financial services that best meet the needs.

Responsibilities
  • Originate credit by assessing requests and obtaining business and financial information needed to determine viability and profitability of the deal. After initial screening, submit information to an analyst, underwriter or scoring system for final decision.
  • Lead the customer relationship and coordinate with others to serve the customer’s loan, lease, crop insurance and servicing needs.
  • Maintain existing NMLS registration under the SAFE Act, or obtain upon hire, and maintain status in good standing during employment.
  • Develop and maintain a significant professional presence to increase market share in the assigned territory. Spend time out of the office building relationships with customers, prospective customers and influencers; deliver value-added financial information based on customer goals and credit strengths/weaknesses.
  • Determine the appropriate customer interaction, coordinate staff to service the customer’s loan and servicing needs, and communicate with the customer and internal team.
  • Introduce customers to the Association’s process and the team members who will support the process.
  • Gather and document customer financial information and application details in compliance with lending requirements, in coordination with Rural 1st Loan Associates; interpret financial information and ask relevant follow-up questions.
  • Recommend loan terms, conditions, and collateral position; set clear expectations and document pertinent customer information in association systems; communicate credit decisions, terms and conditions to the customer.
  • Support servicing and portfolio management by partnering with Rural 1st Construction team on disbursement, Rural 1st teams on servicing actions, and Customer Care team to monitor portfolio risk; negotiate and communicate servicing options as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business or related degree preferred.
  • Successful experience in a trainee role or in a similar field; comfortable with routine customers who have basic product needs.
Mental & Physical Requirements

This role requires sitting, using hands for tasks, and verbal communication. Standing or walking is frequently required; occasional lifting up to ten pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision. Moderate noise level in the work environment. May require driving and a valid driver’s license for long-distance travel; reasonable accommodations available upon request.
