Job summary

Farm Credit Mid-America is hiring a Rural 1st Construction Specialist to support construction loans from setup through disbursement, partnering with borrowers, builders, and internal teams for timely draw processing and compliance.

The role requires handling loan budgets and inspections, maintaining thorough documentation, and delivering excellent customer service within Rural 1st guidelines. A current NMLS registration or the ability to obtain one is required or on hire.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with 5 years relevant experience required.
  • Bachelor's Degree with 1 year relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Activate construction loans by setting up loan budgets, disbursement systems, and files aligned with approved terms.
  • Review, analyze, approve, and disburse construction loan draws, coordinating inspections, change orders, and budget line items.
  • Coordinate with borrowers, builders, inspectors, and internal partners to keep construction projects and loan servicing moving forward and on schedule.
  • Monitor loan budgets, interest reserves, soft costs, insurance coverage, and reports to identify issues and support timely resolution.
  • Maintain complete, accurate documentation, system records, and reporting to support effective loan servicing.
  • Support compliant servicing of the construction loan portfolio while delivering high-quality customer service.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is estimated to be $54,412.00 – $100,487.00 annualized, which reflects the company’s current estimate of the potential compensation range at the time of posting. This salary range reflects the anticipated compensation for this position and represents one component of the total rewards package. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, education, qualifications, and allotted budget. About Our Opportunity

The Rural 1st Construction Specialist supports the successful execution of construction loans by activating new loans and processing disbursements accurately and on time throughout the construction lifecycle. The Rural 1st Construction Specialist partners with borrowers, lenders, builders, and internal teams to deliver a responsive and efficient construction lending experience aligned with Rural 1st guidelines.

This role contributes independently to routine and recurring work with growing confidence and consistency. It applies established procedures, manages assigned responsibilities effectively, and collaborates with others to support business outcomes. Team members at this level are expanding functional knowledge, strengthening judgment, and developing problem-solving skills within defined parameters.

This position requires existing NMLS registration under the SAFE Act, or the ability to obtain the same upon hire, and maintenance of a status in good standing during employment.

How You Will Spend Your Time
  • Activates construction loans by setting up loan budgets, disbursement systems, and files aligned with approved terms.
  • Reviews, analyzes, approves, and disburses construction loan draws, including coordinating inspections, change orders, and budget line items.
  • Coordinates with borrowers, builders, inspectors, and internal partners to keep construction projects and loan servicing moving forward and on schedule.
  • Monitors loan budgets, interest reserves, soft costs, insurance coverage, and reports to identify issues, manage risk, and support timely resolution.
  • Maintains complete, accurate documentation, system records, and reporting to support effective loan servicing and portfolio oversight.
  • Supports compliant servicing of the construction loan portfolio while delivering consistent, high-quality customer service.
  • Completes routine assignments independently using established procedures and sound judgment.
  • Applies working knowledge to resolve common issues and identifies when to seek guidance.
  • Communicates clearly with teammates and internal partners to support coordinated work.
  • Organizes workload to meet deadlines and deliver consistent, reliable outcomes.
  • Contributes ideas that strengthen processes, accuracy, and effectiveness.
  • Uses available tools and resources to resolve straightforward issues and improve confidence.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED with 5 years relevant experience required.
