About The Department

Strategic Partnerships is responsible for developing revenue-generation partnerships from corporate and community-based organizations and managing those relationships. Partnerships vary from year-round engagement to specific races and events. They work closely with all of NYRR’s departments to develop programs that maximize revenue opportunities and ensure NYRR’s partners’ objectives are met. Licensing & Merchandising provides merchandising services to every area of the company. Internal merchandising services include managing the development of all weekly race premiums, premiums for programs, development and distribution of staff clothing and any all-product needs for the organization.

Runner Products supports the training, racing and community experience of our runners – through classes, seminars, and customized training programs. The team also provides experiences to enhance the runner’s engagement with the running community and their experience at NYRR events, including race photography and ticketed events. The Runner Services team is the information source for our runner, serving for a conduit of information and an advocate for NYRR’s runner-first philosophy. NYRR’s Charity Programs include more than 600 Official Charity Partners whose runners raise over $70 million annually. NYRR’s ITO Program operates in 100+ countries, and across 6 continents, and brings more than 15,000 international runners across the finish line at the TCS NYC Marathon.

About The Position

NYRR is seeking an adaptable, outgoing, motivated, and experienced RunCenter Associate to provide support with bib assignment/distribution, premium distribution, general runner inquiries and help with day-to-day RunCenter operations. The individuals in this role will be responsible for treating each runner with the utmost respect and dignity while doing his/her best to help find solutions while promoting the NYRR brand and mission. While this role will be primarily based at the RunCenter, the position will also require support at larger NYRR events. There will be additional opportunities to assist with various events across the organization, providing a well-rounded experience in all facets of our event operations.

Job Responsibilities (primary And Secondary Duties)

  • Demonstrate passion and commitment to the NYRR brand and core values: vision, excellence, teamwork, passion, innovation, challenge.
  • Set the standard for excellence in customer service through leading by example and holding the team accountable.
  • Participate in morning meetings or check in at the start of each shift to learn your assigned roles and pertinent RunCenter and organizational information.
  • Assign race bibs using NYRR registration system and distribute race premiums.
  • Track race premium inventory by performing daily inventory counts.
  • Assist with event set-up and day-to-day RunCenter Operations.
  • Assist runners with race registration, membership and other transactions.
  • Keep records of customer interactions or transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, or comments.
  • Be a brand ambassador! Create a fun experience through positive runner interactions.
  • Demonstrate passion and commitment to the NYRR brand and core values: vision, excellence, teamwork, passion, innovation, challenge.

Experience

Job Requirements:

  • 1 year Customer Service experience preferred
  • Prior event, race day or fitness experience is a plus but not required

Skills And Attributes

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail
  • Punctual and dependable with a strong work ethic.
  • Must be flexible, proactive, and organized.
  • Must be available to work weekends and all larger NYRR events: NYC United Half, RBC Brooklyn Half & TCS New York City Marathon.
  • Professionally able to handle escalated customer service or personnel issues while upholding NYRR values.
  • Passion for NYRR, community events, fitness, or running culture.
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Multi-lingual skills a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Hourly Rate: $22.00

NYRR requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
