Job summary

Draper seeks an experienced Cable Harness and Interconnect Design Engineer in Cambridge, MA to develop rugged interconnect solutions for mission-critical systems. You’ll own the design from concept to prototype, working with RF, mechanical, and systems teams in a high-reliability environment.

You will create detailed CAD models, perform trade studies, and ensure designs meet MIL-STD and IPC standards, with security clearance required or desired.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3-5 years of mechanical design experience with cable harnesses and interconnects.
• Master's degree preferred and security clearance readiness.
• Experience with MIL-STD connectors and IPC standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design high-reliability cable harnesses, interconnects, and connector assemblies for ruggedized systems.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to define requirements.
• Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings; support manufacturing and assembly.
• Validate designs with production teams and suppliers; resolve non-conformances.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of interconnect design processes.
