Job summary

Software Placement Group in Bethlehem, PA is seeking a Rubber Materials Engineer to drive product development across the full lifecycle, from concept to commercialization. You will work with polymer processing, design, testing, and process validation, with relocation support for the right candidate.

The role requires a BS in a relevant engineering field and 3+ years of rubber materials experience, plus travel up to 10% and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Materials, Polymer, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience with Rubber materials, rubber formulation and rubber molding.
  • Knowledge of thermoplastic and thermoset materials, testing, and failure analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to travel globally up to 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate new products, materials, and components.
  • Support product design from concept through commercialization and production.
  • Develop polymer formulations and evaluate material performance.
  • Coordinate prototyping, testing, validation, and pilot production.
  • Conduct and interpret thermal, mechanical, and chemical testing, including FTIR, DMA, DSC, TGA, and tensile testing.
  • Troubleshoot design, material, tolerance, and manufacturing issues.
  • Participate in supplier selection, tooling, and cost evaluations.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional design reviews.
  • Prepare technical documentation and provide product training.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Marketing, and suppliers.

Overview

An established manufacturer specializing in advanced materials is seeking a Rubber Materials Engineer to support product development using thermoplastics, thermosets, composites, coatings, and metallic alloys. This role spans the full product lifecycle from concept through commercialization, offering hands-on experience in polymer processing, plastic part design, materials development, testing, and failure analysis. Relocation assistance is available.

What you'll do
