Job summary

Thorpe Plant Services, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of specialty trade projects, from mobilization through completion. You will supervise on-site crews, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely, high-quality execution and strict safety compliance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in specialty trade or construction management is a plus.
  • 7+ years in rubber liner specialty trade; at least 3 years in supervision/superintendent role.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, project management, and specialty trades.
  • Strong leadership to motivate and manage diverse teams.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specs.
  • Extensive knowledge of safety regulations and ability to enforce on-site safety.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; liaise with clients, vendors, and team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in construction management software/tools (Procore, Buildertrend) is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of specialty trade projects from mobilization to completion.
  • Supervise on-site crews, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure efficient, high-quality execution.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery.
  • Review plans, specs, and blueprints for compliance with requirements and standards.
  • Monitor progress, track milestones, and resolve on-site delays or issues.
  • Enforce safety regulations and maintain continuous safety practices.
  • Perform regular site inspections for quality control and compliance.
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to align goals.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, equipment rental, and labor needs for timely execution.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and on-site staff guidance.
  • Address conflicts quickly to prevent delays.
  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly progress reports for managers/clients.
  • Ensure all project documentation is up to date (change orders, logs, inspections).
  • Manage project budgets and expenses, ensuring profitability.
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of specialty trade projects from mobilization to project completion.
  • Manage and supervise on-site crews, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure efficient and high-quality project execution.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and blueprints to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Monitor project progress, including tracking milestones, addressing delays, and resolving issues that may arise on-site.
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and ensure that safety practices are followed at all times.
  • Perform regular inspections of the job site to ensure quality control and compliance with project standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment on project goals.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, equipment rental, and labor needs to ensure timely project execution.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to on-site staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Address and resolve any on-site issues or conflicts quickly and professionally to prevent project delays.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for project managers and clients.
  • Ensure all project documentation is up to date, including change orders, daily logs, and inspections.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost control measures are in place to maintain profitability.
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies and suggesting improvements to work processes.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in specialty trade or construction management is a plus.
  • Must have 7+ years of experience in the specialty trade industry (Rubber Liner), with at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, project management, and specialty trade practices.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, project plans, and specifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to enforce safety standards on-site.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise with clients, vendors, and team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in construction management software or tools (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, etc.) is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Skills:
  • Certification in OSHA safety training or other relevant trade certifications.
  • Experience in managing large-scale or complex specialty trade projects.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasional travel may be required based on project location.
  • Ability to lift over 20 pounds, including lifting and carrying materials
  • The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
  • The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
