Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATION(S):Any combination equivalent to: Kentucky certificate for Administration,SchoolGuidanceCounselor,SchoolPsychologist,SpecialEducation,and/orTeacher Certification or School Social Worker, and five years of successful experience in working with youth/adolescents in social service delivery, therapeutic, or educational setting.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for supporting the overall operation of the school program by coordinating services, communicating school goals, ensuring compliance with program requirements, andbuildingcommunitypartnershipsforstudents,staff,andparticipatingdistrictpersonneloftheRegional School Programs.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Workwithlocaldistrictstohelpwithstudentevaluationsas needed
- Completeclassroom observations
- Collaboratewithlocaldistricts,RegionalSchoolProgramsstaff,administration,andotherstakeholders regarding student evaluation data
- Participateinstaffandteamtreatment meetings
- Facilitateandencourageongoingcommunicationwithparents,students,staff,andother stakeholders.
- Effectivelycommunicatewithstudents,parents,andsupportstaff,buildingandschoolpersonnelfromother districts, and outside agencies
- Followupwithstudentsandteachersatthehomeschooltomonitor progress
- Provideconsultationandmakeappropriateassessmentsandrecommendationsforproblem-solvingstrategies, which are in the best interest of the student
- Participateinongoingin-servicetrainingrelatedtocomponentsofthe job
- Assistspecialeducationdirectorsandotherlocaldistrictstaffwiththedevelopmentandimplementationof transition plans and contacting agencies when involved.

Student Services
- Collaboratewithfamilies,students,andstakeholderstoensureneedsarebeing met
- Referfamiliesandstudentstoappropriateoutsideresourcesforneeded supports
- Locateandcollaboratewithlocalcommunitypartnerstopromotestudentsuccessinall areas
- Overseethestaffthatorganizestheannualholidaygift/fooddrivefor students
- Organizeandplan,incollaborationwiththeschooladministrationandfamilies,parentinvolvementevents throughout the school year.
- Participateasamemberoftheschoolcoreresponseteam(Elementaryor Secondary)
- Participateaspartofateaminthedevelopmentandimplementationofeachstudent’streatmentplanand/or IEP
- Assistparentsandschooldistrictsinaccessingcommunityresourcesas needed.
- Providecrisisinterventionincollaborationwithadministrators,teachers,crisisinterventionstaff,andotherstaff as needed
- Assiststudentswithpersonalcareas needed
- Beabletoparticipateinthetrainingandimplementationofverbalde-escalationandcrisismanagement techniques
Behavior Intervention
- Assistinthedesign,development,andimplementationofFunctionalBehavioralAssessments (FBA)
- Assistwiththedesignandimplementationofindividualstudentbehaviorinterventionplans. (BIP)
- Develop,implement,andutilizeanindividualstudent’scopingskillsplaninaccordancewiththebehavior intervention plan, FBA, and other data.
- Provideconsultationand/orresourcestoteachersandotherstakeholdersregardingcopingskillsplans, behavior intervention plans, and classroom management plans.
- Completebehaviorobservationstoassistwithstudentevaluationandindividualprogram planning.
Instruction
- AssistteachersandstudentsinthecompletionofIndividualLearningPlansforstudents,includingrequired addendum for students in an alternative setting.
- Workcooperativelywiththeprogramstafftoimplementanintegratedandinclusiveeducation program
- ConsultwithclassroomteachersandARCmemberstodevelop,implement,monitor,andreviseacademicand behavior management plans
- Conductprofessionaldevelopmentforstaffandparents.Thismayinclude,butisnotlimitedto,organizationof materials, data recording supplies, schedules of activities, and scheduling of equipment and facilities
- Workincollaborationwiththeschooladministrationtoimplementassessmentactivitiesand schedules.
Training
- Provideorassistwithprovidingannualtrainingonappropriatede-escalationstrategiesforRegionalSchool Programs staff.
- Providetrainingasneededinotherareas,includingbutnotlimitedto:appropriatebehaviorandclassroom management, suicide prevention, recognizing signs of abuse, and mandatory reporting requirements.
- OthertrainingsneededasdeterminedbytheRegionalSchoolPrograms principal.
TERMOFEMPLOYMENT:Full-time employment,220 days
SALARY: SalarybasedonrankandexperienceinaccordancewiththeNKCESsalary schedule.Fringe benefits comparable to a district-level position.
EVALUATION: Annualevaluationinaccordancewiththeperformanceofthejobdescription and NKCES policies and procedures.
